| guitarcomputer | Posted: 5th April 2004 15:52 | |
Hey... finally I went and mixed all the files completely... and uploaded... it's not overly large but for someone on dial-up, it will be an all night download if you attempt it... (I borrowed our library's T3 connection, they have wifi up for anyone in the area)...
anyways... Anyone that wants to remix this song is welcome to, just put a link to it in this thread, or e-mail me a link... Here's the original mp3 http://www.fallingdownstudio.com/mp3/so_completely.mp3 and here's the zip file with all the tracks and a couple midi files (It's almost 60mb all together) http://www.fallingdownstudio.com/So_Completely_The_remix.zip The song was originally done in the tempo 225, but is actually half that Thanx, -gc

| xoxos | Posted: 6th April 2004 09:06 | |

| Gridlocked | Posted: 8th April 2004 11:25 | |
Still working on the remix here...Expect it mid-July...
| ||
| MrM | Posted: 8th April 2004 16:01 | |
Me too; still working on the remix. So far did the vocals and the leadguitar only, took me half the evening Bloody machine of mine made me reboot too often... Bloody Windows
| guitarcomputer | Posted: 8th April 2004 16:43 | |
Gridlocked
Hah... mid-July? heh, whenever it's done.. look forward to hearing it MrM heh... yeah... windows sucks... Sometimes I wish I could afford to use a mac... but all the time I wish all our audio stuff worked on a linux machine look forward to listening to your remix 2..
| Gridlocked | Posted: 8th April 2004 16:49 | |
Hehe! And mid-July was a consertative estimate...Eeek!
| ||
| mr.me | Posted: 14th April 2004 10:35 | |
Wow, that remix was great too! more!!
| Gridlocked | Posted: 14th April 2004 10:38 | |
I'm starting to think that actually Mid July will be when I am done...Hehe!
| annode | Posted: 14th April 2004 11:07 | |
Hey GC.
I`m about to import your tracks into nuendo now. BTW...I believe these audio tracks are uneffected. If you did this in cubase,could you post a link to your project file? Nuendo will convert it,no matter what version of cubase made it. It would save me lots of time. Thanx. Barry.
| annode | Posted: 14th April 2004 17:11 | |
Ignore what I wrote above...that was before I listened to the complete project.
Have a prob with the cymbals though. I`ll need new crash.Your crash on the single drm track is too loud and distorted to use,even with eq. I can edit the crash out and put in my own...or you can send me separate cymbal hit and drum tracks. This is a real nice project for me...it`s well organized,and lots of headroom left for me to work!
| guitarcomputer | Posted: 15th April 2004 05:38 | |
annode
yeah... the cymbal is a bit loud... I can go back and turn it down... and then do a mix down of the drum track again... or I can mute the cymbal in the track and give you the cymbal sample.. so you can add it wherever at whatever volume you want...? whichever put a link to it on here... so if anyone else had trouble with that loud cymbal... Gridlocked hah...
| Gridlocked | Posted: 15th April 2004 05:42 | |
I've been working on it a bit more so maybe before, I just feel like I have to keep posting here so I can find this post when the remix is done!!!
By the way, when it is finished is it okay to post it to my site as it is the only place I have for hosting. Obviously you will be fully credited!
| donkey tugger | Posted: 15th April 2004 06:52 | |
Ere ye go, a very quick and dirty piano, strings, organ, DT geetar remix, haven't written a middle 8 or a proper ending yet...never mind!
One for t'lovers.... so completely shag mix finito edit -link changed to the full version!
| lex_strooder | Posted: 15th April 2004 07:05 | |
great song guitarcomputer, Im downing the zip... remix in the pipeline...
nice one donkey, like your remix of this beauty... Maybe a duett between donkey's Lost and guitarcomputer So completely... a mergemix... what about it donkey and guitarcomputer / Lex
| donkey tugger | Posted: 15th April 2004 07:11 | |
Hehe, fine by me, though 'lost' is in the rather dubious key of G minor, while this is in the rather more sensible key of B minor..see how it goes!
| lex_strooder | Posted: 15th April 2004 07:22 | |
i just transpose both to eeek majority and auto pitch you to A4 but in a frequency of 441,5 Hz... I give it try, never done a merge mix before and I need to practice on my perfect pitch If not, I just post two mixes, one for each / Lex
| guitarcomputer | Posted: 15th April 2004 07:22 | |
hey DT.. nice remix... nice and laid back and yeah fine by me if anyone wants to mix mine and donkeytugger's songs together... but good look with the difference in keys...
| t-willy | Posted: 15th April 2004 07:25 | |
ooooooo, very nice. can't get the damn song out of my head now..........so completely perplexing.........to sing this to myself........ lates t-willy
| guitarcomputer | Posted: 15th April 2004 07:25 | |
hah.. | ||
| Gridlocked | Posted: 15th April 2004 07:32 | |
Like the piano...
Funny thing is I was gonna do the same chords for the verse...Decided to keep the orignals in the end!
| donkey tugger | Posted: 15th April 2004 07:41 | |
very..... Glad you like it, I'll do the job properly later, when i got a bit more time.
| annode | Posted: 15th April 2004 12:19 | |
Thanx GC...it would be worth the trouble to make a new drum track with the crash turned down.
So...I understand you will be posting that track here. Very good GC.thanx. BTW-I don`t plan to change what you`ve done...all is good! I plan to add playing and mix it all. I have some good ideas from my listens yesterday.
| guitarcomputer | Posted: 15th April 2004 14:44 | |
oh man... donkeytugger no rush... your mix keeps growing on me 2.. heh, I really love that build up...
| donkey tugger | Posted: 15th April 2004 16:37 | |
Hokey dokey, finished the bugger I reckon; added suitably morose middle 8 with a few vocal effects, bit of an intro and a better ending, plus a bit of general tweakage here and there. I'll turn thee into Neil Diamond yet m'boy! so completely shag mix finito
| Gridlocked | Posted: 15th April 2004 16:39 | |
I'll give this a listen tomorrow morning...How did you finish it so quickly?! Mines taking ages!
| donkey tugger | Posted: 15th April 2004 16:49 | |
a - no drums! b - played it quite straight in a ballad arrangement so no fucking about trying to be clever as I sometimes try to... c- wrote most of the chord sequence on the guitar in about 10 mins. d - vocal was already compressed to buggery so I didn't have to do much by way of effects except a bit of de-essing, delay, reverb.
| bluedad | Posted: 15th April 2004 17:37 | |
nice job donkey
| ||
| lex_strooder | Posted: 15th April 2004 17:42 | |
well done tugger.
/ Lex | ||
| annode | Posted: 15th April 2004 20:12 | |
Nice job of the donkster to do a mix that really shows off the fine vocal work of GC.
Very nice! | ||
| mr.me | Posted: 15th April 2004 23:30 | |
Wow donkey....breath taking!
| donkey tugger | Posted: 16th April 2004 01:56 | |

| stefankuhn | Posted: 16th April 2004 04:03 | |
Wow! What a great idea! GC, I didn't see this post until now and listened to your version of "So completely". Even though it's normally not my genre, I almost instantly grew to like the tune, mostly because of the vocals, I think. And I instantly began developing some ideas what I could/would do with the material, feeling inspired for the first time since long. This could be exactly the sort of distraction I need right now... Would you please let the download up until tonight? I would like to try to make a nice, chilled ambient remix out of this over this weekend... And thank you for offering your song for "public remixing", I think that's a cool idea and a very generous gesture. Btw. donkey, I like your remix, good work! Best, Stefan
| guitarcomputer | Posted: 16th April 2004 05:08 | |
ok.. yes... I have not uploaded that drum track with the cymbal turned down... if I don't have it up by today, someone can shoot me.. heh... donkeytugger I love it... and I finally figured out the word I was looking for... You make the song sound very epic stefankuhn yeah, I'll have that remix kit up for awhile I would suppose, no reason in taking it down
| donkey tugger | Posted: 16th April 2004 10:09 | |
Look forward to the other remixes, always interesting these remix jobbies, to see what people make of things.
| mr.me | Posted: 16th April 2004 14:57 | |
Ok, here's my go....built around the vocals.
so completely (drifting) Thanks for posting the parts, it was fun!
| mr.me | Posted: 16th April 2004 15:00 | |
It's mellow. | ||
| Ace | Posted: 16th April 2004 15:28 | |
Very very good. GC, this one has got potential for a real radio hit in my opinion. I'll try my hand on it, tomorrow if you still want more remixes. Donkeytugger's was very cool, also. I kinda think I'd put another drum track on the whole thing...we'll see
so long ace | ||
| guitarcomputer | Posted: 16th April 2004 20:50 | |
Mr.Me
Very cool... I was about to say it's very drifty.. heh.. but noticed it's in the song title Good Stuff Ace Thanx... and yeah, anyone can remix it if they want.. I'll leave that remix kit up for awhile probley anyways... all right... I'm remixing that drum track right now... will probley be up midnight my time.. heh... (I have dial-up and a crappy phone line..)
| guitarcomputer | Posted: 16th April 2004 21:17 | |
Ok.. the file is uploading right now... so, it won't be able to download for awhile... but... when it's complete... here's the link...
http://www.fallingdownstudio.com/newdrums.mp3 Should be done in an hour I would hope... I mixed the crash, splash, and kick drums all a lil better this time I think so... hopefully this will help

Yep, bass track clip. | ||
| annode | Posted: 17th April 2004 02:29 | |

Oh..forget to add,nice mix there Mr.Me. Have to mention ..I was waiting for the drms to come in and go into a trance track.Seems to lend itself to that feeling. Go job the way it is!

| t-willy | Posted: 26th April 2004 12:38 | |
very nice bass groove you got going on there. i like the acoustic guitars too. i like the feel of the tempo a lot better, especially during the "chorus". not sure i like the synth (or is that a guitar with effects?) on the chorus though, still deciding. nice remix though loopfilth lates t-willy

can't remember if i commented on your remix or not grid, too lazy to go back through the thread so here goes (maybe again lates t-willy

Hi, guitarcomputer (sounds like me), I've just found the site a few days ago and came across this thread. I thought I would have a go at my first remix. What I've tried to do is to simplify everything to let the voice and the song speak for themselves. See what you think.

| LoopFilth | Posted: 27th April 2004 00:24 | |
Thanx man, I sped it up to 130 cuz it felt to slow for the style I was aiming at. I mucked around with some gtar samples + amp sim and ended up with a U2ish sound - good enuf for a quick mix. I'm Kyle has a gr8 voice - very radio friendly (not sure if thats good thing
| guitarcomputer | Posted: 27th April 2004 06:44 | |
hah | ||
| Markleford | Posted: 27th April 2004 07:45 | |
Yeah, I love the stuff in the end when the guitar drops out and you hear the layered voice parts! - m
| Patrick9 | Posted: 28th April 2004 09:33 | |
Thanks M - but..having listened to my mix in the cold light of day on speakers (as opposed to 3am on cans) I think I would go back to the drawing board.
Its all good learning though. Thanks Kyle for putting the song up and good luck with it.
| MrM | Posted: 5th September 2004 13:05 | |
It only took me half a year And it is not even finished... But here's what I did so far; I changed the vocals with some slight overdrive (tubescreamer) and I changed the guitar solo... It is my second mix ever! http://members.home.nl/mistermouse/kvr/GuitarComputer-SoCompletely[MrM -Remix-SEP04].mp3 Feel free to add your comments. |
