First really finished track is up at http://www.caddr.com/music/Synthetic.mp3. Feedback is welcome. I'd especially appreciate any suggestions on the mix.

Thanks to everybody at KVR for accelerating my musical education 10x.

Yeah KvR is a real breeding ground for inspiration and knowledge...

You limited yourself in using not too many artifacts and as far as I can hear four different instruments only (bass, lead, arped lead and percussion)

First off the melody you layed out sound pretty okay. Good accompaniing by the bass sound.

I personally would put a bit more time in tweaking the various sounds to fit them in the tune perfect and would go on a quest finding either some strings or some pads to glue the different elements together a bit more. But I realize as you say this is your first finished track. The greatest ingredient you must always add to making music is joy in making it, and enjoy the path you are on...

Thanks for taking the time to listen and respond. I agree it sounds pretty stripped down. I was trying to do something in the vein of the New Romantic synthpop stuff, which was also pretty stripped down. A lot of that stuff sounds pretty stripped down too without vocals. I guess I need to find a singer... (and a lyricist).

Definitely a lot of fun doing this stuff.
