transpennine express
for anyone who has ever travelled on uk trains, its not perfect. ie it needs a lot of work.
one synth to rule them all...
thanks to fake for making this possible

I used to take the First TransPennine Express travelling from Sheff to MCR when working at Sage. Sadly my contract finished last Oct.. Still, I don't have to get up at 05:30 anymore

just the one. handmade for me by fake, who lives in sheffield, to pick up said instrument i used the train, hence the track title
i beleive its called the WEP20 but im not 100% sure on that.
there is a thread in the hardware section "some new diy hardware" with better info on the synth

Now that sounds good to me, a train ride and unprocessed as well? Seems you like the sequencer then..
I been too busy making them that I ain't had chance to do a track yet.
Also pissed off cos the wood I bought for the boxes is warped and I now have to get some more.
But, glad you are enjoying it.

having much fun with the sequencer indeed.
yep, so far here, no processing and no editing other than a few fades. i want to do some cutting and lose a few of the bits that dont sit right, but on the whole im happy how its turned out considering it was done in 7 runs, each track done totally live, with the added bonus of being done in the middle of the night so i could hardly hear it
mebbe a few fx but not too much as i dont want to lose the clarity this has considering the chaos

imagine the fun you could have testing them all together before mailing them out

I think this is actually more upsetting than the first song I ever posted here, which was also train-inspired.
Well done!
vurt - Tue Jul 22, 2008 6:48 pm
upsetting
vurt - Sat Jul 26, 2008 9:05 am
less "upsetting" mix will be forthcoming in the next hours.
although im now tempted to re record a couple of tracks with fx. ah the folly of new gear...
folderol - Sat Jul 26, 2008 3:00 pm
WTF 43minutes estimated for an 11meg download
Maybe I'll get to hear it next week
vurt - Fri Aug 01, 2008 2:54 pm

also to be added to first post.
fake - Sat Aug 02, 2008 8:36 am
The update is nice and spacial and the panning gives a lot of movement to it.
A big
runagate - Sat Aug 02, 2008 8:44 am

I can tell the return train was definitely a newer model

but why did both have to arrive at British Rail speed? Can I suggest you upload to somewhere like box.net in future?
NEway, on with the show.
I've always wondered about the strange noises modern trains make, it's like they're having sone sort of conversation. Hey, I don't suppose you found out what it was they're saying
Nice job
runagate - Sat Aug 02, 2008 10:35 am
The new mp3, is that a remix? If so, well done... sounds spookily "present"
Obviously when I said "upsetting" I meant that in a positive (to me) sense.
I hate to say it but I think you've outdone yourself, muppet.

ah well, suppose its time to quit while im ahead, leave em wanting more
glad you enjoyed, and yep a remix of sorts, where previously it was the full recorded tracks with no cuts or automation, now ive cut all the bits that dont fit and automated some panning and levels

my my my! this is nice, mr v!
now i've gotta go and dl'd the original one (...just realized I was listening to the "less upsetting" version

)
at lack for a better analogy, i hope you're familiar with Herschel Gordon Lewis' movies? (Blood Feast, 2000 Maniacs, etc)...if you are, you know how everything is in super turbo caffeinated
COLOR?
the version i just listened to(transretake1) is the audio analog of that impossible vividness of Lewis' movie colors.
I dig it very much.

Having I seen/heard this before? Have I lived here before.
I enjoyed it.
