I just got done watching Justified: Blaze of Glory Granted it wasn't like most episodes, which is fine by me. If they were all super intense I'd prolly stop watching. They do a great job of casting on that show.

I watched a really good Brazilian (I Think) movie last night called 'The Secret In Their Eyes'.
There's one long shot that starts above a soccer stadium and zooms into a man in the stadium that would have made Hitchcock cry....

RE: SGU
They tried to make it gritty and paced. "Lost in Space" barely worked for "Voyager". It's too paced for my palette. Seems it takes forever for something to happen. As well the scheduling is wierd to me. I wonder if they even do 12 episodes a year.

I've been watching Fairly Legal. I kept hoping it would get better. I hate that show. The last episode was the last episode I'll watch. I think Sarah Shahi is a fine actress and fine in general but I hate her character "Kate" I've had two relationships with women like that and even one is too many. It's good it aint gold. The character is ingratiating and evasive while demanding openess and honesty from others.
robenestobenz - Sat Apr 16, 2011 3:06 pm
I'd weaned myself off TV for a bit, but I've been totally divested of that resolve by The Prisoner, series 3 of Spiral (or Engrenages, if we're feeling frou frou) and Twin Peaks all being on every week. Bloody hell.

The Prisoner is fantastic. It's all sort of hi-tech Kafka and stuff innit, albeit less funny. Really unusual for a TV programme, even after all these years.

From the 80's thru the 90;s I rarely watched TV usually two howrs a week and those to not regular. I thought I was cured of it. Heck I didn't even have a vcr till 94. When Hulu came along I was sucked in. Generally speaking if it's not on hulu I don't watch it. Not that I watch everything hulu has to offer.

If you enjoy dry witty comebacks and action/adventure I think you will enjoy Burn Notice
hibidy - Sat Apr 16, 2011 3:35 pm
@SGU: I won't miss it for just the reasons you stated.

Remember when there were star trek shows and there were 20+ a season? Yep, those days are gone forever but some of series are just embarrassingly short.

A show I reversed my opinion on is now dead. Detriot 1-8-7. I was raised in Detroit. My father was a corrections officer (P.O.) Working for the state in the city. I'd lived in the city for many, many years and still feel a connection to it. I pulled my hair out constantly at first with so, so many things they got very wrong regarding authenticity. But then the drama took over and it was a great show.

I know guy who had a mail order bride. At first the sex is great the romance is great she treats you like a king. Then the wedding plans come and she wants to invite her family all 5 brothers 3 sisters mom and dad. Of course it's coming out of your pocket. The wedding comes and goes but the relatives remain. She's legally your wife and a naturalized citizen. But her relatives aren't and can't find work so they move in with you. Soon you and she are working two jobs to support the rest of the family and pay for an attorney to do some legal manuvering so her family isn't deported. Not that they ever expected to get a green card cause that might mean work. Then she sleeps with a co-worker because she's much to busy working to find time to have sex with you. Now she's pregnant with some other dudes kid and wants a divorce. Fine you say as you rat her family out to customs. Then you end up paying alimony and child support for a kid that's not yours. And you work out a plea bargan for harboring illegal aliens.

I was trying to watch this "shinedown" thing I stumbled upon on palladia but I've never heard of them and thus I guess that made them a bore. Too many really formulated songs but not anywhere near as good as nickleback. (wow, that is really saying something hun? Laughing )

But seriously, if you are going to watch overly formulated "hard" rock "live at sturgis" is better.

I'm struggling to engage with much new TV; got bored of Boardwalk Empire after six episodes, Breaking Bad turned into some dark farce, Dexters returns are diminishing... Haven't seen any scifi that's gripped me for ages (though SG:U is still worth a watch imho).

Sadly, the only thing I'm really looking forward to each week are reruns of The Sopranos (thanks to a new satallite channel, Sky Atlantic) They're running Six Feet Under from the start too which I'm dipping in and out of (love it just don't have the time...) Started watching BSG again but got bored again after a season...

Whatever, only thing I've genuinely got excited about recently was a C4 documentary: Village of the Dolls (Maybe called Marwencol elsewhere...)

About a guy who was beaten into a coma in a bar fight and has now built a scale WWII village in his backyard with action figures. Call it therapy, call it art...

On 4OD in the UK.

I can't watch any of those shows. Regardless of the acting and/or supposedly genius writing I cannot stand the premise. A teacher turning to making meth because he has cancer and wants to support his family? Nope.

Remember, I'm the guy who ditched walking dead after the second episod because it was one of those shows with a new "twist".

Still watching allot of TNG, even though I've seen them all they are still so much better than 90+% of anything out there now.

A few minutes ago, storms approaching. Looked nice across a wide green pasture dotted with cows. Hardly rained any but I left when it looked as if lightning might start soon. (It didn't, but I had to get back to programming anyway.)

Had to carry a calf out of a nasty thicket of discarded barbed wire and briars. The calf didn't like that one bit, but would've disliked starving even more. If it had been a little bigger I couldn't have lifted it, but if it'd been a little bigger it couldn't have got itself trapped in the first place.

I've only seen the first two seasons, thought s2 was really going over old ground a lot of the time (how many times can Skyler confront Walt...) but then it ended on, hell, i don't know, really dark farce? Or was it meant to be *really* serious and heavy? Seemed so over the top I was just puzzled. I'll carry on watching but not glued to it like I was. Part of me wants Hank to get a spinoff show, he's a great character.

I did watch Six Feet Under in it's entirety the first time around, excellent telly for sure, just don't want to spend every evening catching up on stuff I've recorded. Smile

Some of the best TV I've ever seen in there, with the exception of whatever calif belongs to, and Weeds, which started off a bit wobbly, briefly straightened out and then span off into the hinterland of reason and belief, homeland of WTF.

No accounting for taste, I guess -- but I'd be surprised if you didn't find you liked one of those shows, if you gave them a fair shake. They're not all set on such dodgy premises as BB, either (not that I've seen it, although friends keep pushing me to).
