I followed the install instructions exactly...shortcut in VST folder (with the 'shortcut' part of file name removed) to data folder in Document folder. When I try to launch Tyrell in FL Studio I get the message:
file couldn't be opened C:Program Files/VSTPlugins/TyrellN6.data/Data/Scripts/TyrellN6.txt-1
If I then get rid of the shortcut in the VST folder and move the data folder to the VST folder along with the .dll I can open Tyrell fine inside of FL Studio, but the preset banks are not loaded and i can't load h2p files from within FL, only .fxb or .fxp.
I've recently been installing a lot of freeware synth plugins and haven't had problems with any of them in FL Studio.
Any advice? Is there something I'm missing?

Did you rename "TyrellN6.data shortcut" to "TyrellN6.data"?
The other, quite elegant way is to have C:\Vstplugins\ and everything in there, and add that as Vstplugins directory to FL Studio. No need for shortcuts anymore.

thanks..yes I did rename the shortcut to just TyrellN6.data...like I said I did follow the instructions.
when that didn't work I just put the original TyrellN6.data into the VST plugins folder along with everything else. It seems as though FL Studio and Tyrell can access everything fine from there because Tyrell comes up okay in FL Studio. No permissions problem with most of the data.
The problem is only that it's not accessing the presets.

Is the Tyrell Data folder where the presets are located in the same folder where tyrell.dll is located? I think they need to be in the same (root) folder. The patches are located inside this data folder (i think).

Thanks for replying. Here's an exact description of the setup:
1) All the VST .dll's I use (with no problem) in FL Studio are in the folder c:/Program files/VstPlugins. So TyrellN6.dll is there as well.
2) I originally followed the instructions re: shortcut 'TyrellN6.data' to the full TyrellN6.data folder in Documents but that didn't work and I got the error message.
3) So at the moment the full TyrellN6.data folder has been moved instead to c:/Program files/VstPlugins, right below TyrellN6.dll.
This improved the situation because at least FL Studio now opens Tyrell fine and can clearly access the TyrellN6.data folder. I can use the plugin and it works.
4) The problem is it doesn't access the presets. These are in a sub-folder 'Presets' inside the TyrellN6.Data folder. (there is a second sub-folder called 'Data' in there as well, which Tyrell is obviously accessing okay).
I tried to directly load the presets into Tyrell in FL Studio but it doesn't recognise the .h2p file format and will only search for .fxb/.fxp to load.

My install is TyrellN6V2Win/TyrellN6Data/Presets/TyrellN6/
The actual .dll resides in TyrellN6V2Win

Hm, okay. Well I've tried doing the same thing, everything in the same root folder. No change. I then tried various other arrangements, such as having the Preset folder out of its subfolder and in the root folder along with the .dll and data folder.
Still the same. I can access and use the plugin, just no presets. It must just be an FL Studio thing perhaps. I'll try the forums at Image-line and see if any other FL users have successfully accessed the presets with Tyrell.

I'm using Tyrell in FL Studio 10 with no problem accessing presets using the file structure above. Try unzipping the Tyrell download and placing the folders unchanged into FL's Vst folder. FL Studio 10/Plugins/VST. Don't move anything around. Just keep it the same way it unzips.
Are you using the Load button on Tyrell's interface? FL will not recognize Tyrell's H2P preset format, you have to load presets from the Tyrell interface not from FL's preset menu..........

Thanks for that. You've identified the actual problem and I'm accessing the presets now. I use the FL wrapper menu for presets or randomising on all my VSTs - both FL and otherwise - so totally didn't think of the internal plugin load menu or if I did just assumed it wouldn't give a different result.
I feel kind of ridiculous for not having tried that. I should have, especially with non fxb/fxp files.
Cheers loads for the advice. Much appreciated.

No need for you to feel ridiculous.

We've all been there when we just need a little nudge in the right direction. Good to hear you've got access to the presets. Some great stuff in there.

True enough: 'A noob is merely someone who doesn't know what you yourself only found out yesterday'.
Loving the sounds (and controls) on this synth. Just the squashy richness I was looking for.
Thanks again for the help.
