YES!
i haven't experimented with SID2SID setups, since i'm not really experienced with soldering. would love to do it some day, though!
i'm just browsing through your c64 pack. some lovely, lovely sounds in there. thank you so much!

holy cow! things like that are way out of my league.
i've been secretly hoping to have something like this some day, though:
all i've managed to do so far is paint my commodore light blue. going any further than that and they'd probably find me electrocuted or soldered to a C64 motherboard.

Hey Odo, another c64 nut here

I got my sid2sid installed today!
does this app support it?
I need to do a noise reduction mod now as theres a lot of line noise. I tried a noise gate which seems okay but i'd rather just get rid of it.

i used a simple cable mod (if you can even call that a mod) and it reduced the noise significantly. it worked great when recording the sounds for C64 Synthesizer Sessions.
if you'd like i can post a photo, the trick is connect two pins with a piece of aluminium foil.
gamecat666 - Sun Apr 08, 2012 1:43 pm
is it the one where you connect them together on the 8 pin DIN video out?
I think that grounds the Audio IN on SID1 but not sid2, ive got to do a bit more research there

yes, that's it! works great when there's only one SID.
Tricky-Loops - Sun Apr 08, 2012 4:18 pm
Thanks for the sample pack, there are some really interesting sounds in it...
It remembers me of 1988 when I played games with my friend on the C 64. I can't believe that there are still people whose C 64 are alive and workable.
I was happy as I got an AMIGA 500 in 1989. It was such an improvement in sound quality and especially in graphic resolution!
But even with the AMIGA 500 I never had realized that I could make music with it. Calvin Harris made me first nowadays think of this as he made his music with the AMIGA 500.
And I thought, WTF, music making with AMIGA - why I hadn't this idea??

odo, if you want to mirror the file, i highly recommend Ubuntu One - it's a great free file host.
https://one.ubuntu.com/
if you don't want to mess with setup, i'd be glad to host this on my account.

The link is overloaded right now but when it's back I'll mirror it.
Thanks Odo
BTW that's an impressive collection of c64 hardware you have.
Gridlocked - Wed Apr 11, 2012 12:29 am

If you take a look at my site:
http://www.gavinharrisonsounds.com
You'll find plenty of Spectrum / C64 songs there!

Link is dead!!!
Mirror??
mkdr - Sat Apr 14, 2012 1:29 pm
I guess i'm going to be as bold and assume "you can use it for every thing you want" will include hosting a mirror.. Though i didn't have the originals anymore. They are now .flac files inside a "7zip". I'll take it down though if Odo wishes so.
http://mkdr.pp.fi/c64odo/c64odo.7z
Let me know how fast that server works

FLAC = Free Lossless Audio Codec
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FLAC
In short, it is the best audio compression codec.
Many Daw's support it natively(Renoise, Reaper, Cubase).

Great! Thanks for this. FLAC and 7zip are both things that make me happy! And that C64 thing, whatever it is...

I sold my C64 and Amiga too. I was using them at the same time as PC's too. But the PC side kind of won there.. Had to make room for synths
I still use a tracker quite a lot(Renoise).
odo - Thu Apr 19, 2012 9:59 am
Upgraded renoise i'm now on 2.8
odo - Fri Apr 20, 2012 1:11 pm
@gamecat666
There is a tracker where you can use 3 sids I'll try to find it for you.
I also want to try it because of my 2sids and 2sids in my 1541ultimate
It's so nice to hear 3 sids at the same time
Cheers
Marc

Hi All,
Just FYI - Microsoft have terminated my skydrive account without notice. I have submitted tickets to find out why but I'm getting no response. Their TOS says unlimited bandwidth - my ass.
Odo's sample pack is unfortunately not accessible from this source any more. I will try to find an alternative.
Odo's Dropbox account is also overwhelmed at this moment.
The VSTs listed at
http://theodosynthsarchive.wordpress.com are still accessible from my dropbox.
All I can say is: DO NOT USE MICROSOFT SKYDRIVE. I was willing to give it a go, but... well, whatever.

Anyway, the link is back up for now.
