Hello,

Do you know any piece of music that is bitonal as in, there are really two tonalities going on at the same time for an extended period of time?

Charles Ives' father made him sing in a different key than the accompaniment a lot. It turned him into a great weirdo and insurance man. ;^)

it would tend to expand your ear.

it isn't going to be perceived by too many people, polytonality in the sense of more than one 'key' going on at once, as such... but it is a way to get to new areas.
a lot of the effects will coincide with intervallic extensions of single chords/sonorities though.

it was trendy for a time, eg. that Honegger, Milhaud, et al.
