To coincide with the launch of my new soundbank for U-He's Diva:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=348877
http://www.arksun-sound.com

I'm starting up a poll to gauge which synth/s people would like me to next make a full soundbank for.

Please pick one from the list or specify which synth if you choose the 'other' option.

Out of the top 3 in the poll I'll choose one to work on next Smile

After nearly year n half of health problems and equipment failure it feels good to be working on stuff again.

If you head over to my products page there's lots of streaming audio demos to give you an idea of the flavour and range of sounds I like to make:

http://www.arksun-sound.com/products.html

I come from a trance/progressive background, but also like to make softer more chilled ambient tones and more natural sounding instruments too(if the synth can handle it). I prefer not to be tied to one specific genre, but there is a particular style of sound that seems to run through all the sounds that I make.

I vote like this too!

I voted for Saurus.....as I really think it needs an independent of tone2 bank..so the patches wont' be too bright and over delayed and reverbed Smile......

but my real vote would have been omnisphere, cause I know, like me you were/are a huge fan of the filters on that baby..... however with already 5,000 patches from spectrasonics and lord knows they must be working on another 10,000 Smile, I can't see how it would be financially feasible for you to do so.

An EDM focused set for Rob Papen Predator! Something a bit more melodic and laid back than the one that Ummet Ozcan has out (which is still awesome, but more geared toward harder sounds).

I already have a freeware minibank for Predator with 24 sounds in it on the site, but a full bank is certainly something worth considering Smile

Synthmaster dude.

I'm still trying to get my head round it, but those dual filters are a thing of great horn.

I already voted for Omnisphere (which I don't currently own) but I'l like to change that to Trilian, which I think has so much potential for sound design particularly straight-ahead synth sounds (getting away from bass patches). There is a huge collection of sound sources there and a very powerful synth engine which to many is a bit intimidating. I would definitely buy a quality set of Trilian patches myself.

Including interesting arps and well-selected front page controls would be ideal.

Never tried Trilian, but have heard good things about it.
pocvecem - Mon May 07, 2012 10:59 am
Trilian has lots of very inspiring arps and it's by far not only limited to bass sounds.

I voted for Alchemy. It's in my personal synth top 5 since two years now. I'm curious what you can get out of this amazing synth.

Cheers,
Gerald

Arksun, if you do decide to do Omnisphere be sure to add pictures to your patches!

Well from what I understand in a lot of ways if you have Omnisphere you have basically tried Trilian, just not the particular library. But Trilian, having fewer presets than Omnisphere, probably has a bigger market for new patches I would guess, and really has a lot of untapped potention. It definitely isn't just for bass sounds though that is the majority of the presets that it ships with. I asked Spectrasonics about the possibility of more synth-only presets and they said that was really the focus of Omnisphere more than Trilian (from a business perspective I don't think they want Trilian undercutting Omnisphere in this area, so they don't look to build out its synth presets.)

Anyhow, I hope you or some other patch programmers consider it, as I really think it is such an untapped resource. I'm not a great sound designer but I've made some nice patches for myself in this way, and someone that understands that powerful engine much better could do a lot with it.

Yeah. I mean I get the whole public perception thing if, there's soo many presets why would I want anymore and thats a very real concern!, but at the same time its about variation and quality over quantity too. Not that Omnisphere's presets are bad by any means Eric is a god damn legend and someone I've looked up to from his Roland sound making days.

But if there is one main untapped area of Omnisphere its just using it purely as a subtractive synth, there's definitely a gap in that section that could be filled if I was to make a soundset for it. Either make lots of 2-oscillator presets, or save them as multis to effectively allow up to 16 oscillators per preset. Plus it has some wonderful raw single voice vintage synth samples in there too that could be tapped into more.

Lots to think about!

Definitely Smile and the same exact thing is true for Trilian. Maybe you can make for them both, whatever skills and tricks you have will be applicable to both systems, it would be a good way to leverage your knowledge to maximum effect Smile
Audiority - Tue May 08, 2012 8:32 am
I programmed some soundbanks for omnisphere (third will be released this week) and used it for a trip hop album and i really really love it. I almost only use its subtractive engine with built-in oscillators, but using some samples to get unexpected sounds is priceless.

My 2 cents Smile

Arksun, your Diva and Zebra patches are off the charts good. Just bought both of them today. I listen to LOTS and LOTS of patches created by people, but yours are my favorites. F*cking good work. Keep it up!

And people, if you haven't heard Arksun patches yet, go to his website NOW and check them out.

Harmor is the most underappreciated synth out there right now, IMO. The documentation is pretty lame and it's far from being an intuitive instrument to program. But, oh, what it's capabile of!

I don't think this is Mac compatible (without resorting to something like Bootcamp). If so, that's the kiss of death here in 2012.

Wow! Very nice work. I loved your demo tracks as well ... engaging compositions. I'll be purchasing this new soundback up for sure.

I may be a lone voice here, but I voted for Blade. It is a very cool synth and it deserves some really good presets.

If the PC was more expensive or less accessible than MAC your argument would be right. But the reality is opposite. I don't think people would recommend someone, who are thinking to buy a motor bike, to buy Harley Davidson. But they'd recommend to buy Honda. You can achieve what you want with Honda bike, that's great.

The demos sound heavenly!

Please, make a bank for Synthmaster in the future, it's got everything Diva hasn't. I'm sure you'd make wonderful presets Wink

Lucky, I said what I did because in the professional industry, nearly everyone uses Macs these days. So, a developer should include Mac development or they're missing out on a tremendous segment of the market.

Seems to be a clear front runner so far with Alchemy and closer call on 2nd & 3rd place, kinda surprised Omni is soo high over some of the other synths, very interesting.
TheoM - Fri May 18, 2012 9:14 am
looks like it's going to be alchemy. I am happy with that Very Happy

haven't used it in ages, would dust it and use it for an arksun bank!

considering arksun's factory presets are the best in the full version anyway (have said this before, by far)

PS i voted saurus as i am not huge on the patches in the demo and i thought it would win the poll by a mile.. i don't cheat and look before i vote.. i was shocked, would have been only 3 votes before mine!
Resonator63 - Fri May 18, 2012 12:20 pm
I voted Synthmaster.
There are plenty of superb soundbanks out there for Alchemy already.
Synthmaster needs some Wink
TheoM - Fri May 18, 2012 12:39 pm
Never thought of that.

Synthmaster and i have an NFR to it mind you and forgot all about it as i was waiting for the 64 bit mac version to come out which i believe from research has now been out a while.

Better download this puppy.

R63 are the synthmaster factory banks not good? it's supposed to come with a zillion presets, surely some are quality?

Yes, Arksun on synthmaster, could be very interesting!
pdxindy - Fri May 18, 2012 12:51 pm
Plenty of votes went for ACE even though it is not on the list. I would love to see Arksun do a set for ACE cause it has such a unique functionality. But whether Alchemy or Synthmaster is first, I figure he will get to ACE at some point Smile
