Within a week or two.
Just to get you wondering, here are some quotes from today:
"YOU CAN DO EVERYTHING WITH THIS PLUG IN
I think you have created a new genre of music."
"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mangler!
f*cking bonkers
jesus
LMFAO
this is sick mate"
Just polishing it up now
I think I'm going to need to build a preset sharing system
Dave.

My first thought was: "oh no, not another T-Pain Effect"...
...but in Dave we trust. Can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve! I'll probably like it, even if I it turns out that I can't do EVERYTHING with it.

Not gonna lie. I love that phrase. Might paint it on a wall in my bedroom.

In fact, PitchFunk, as a name, is kinda misleading. If I do decide to rename it, I'll update the thread title
But it's been called PitchFunk for a while now, and it keeps growing... it might be sentient by now.
Dave.

I've spent the last 20minutes listening to presets with my mouth open.
I have dribble in my beard.
I have created a monstrosity.
I am still adding features.
What is happening here is definitely not OK.

Please don't hesitate to give a little more info about what this plugin effect will be about.
No we know, nothing..
DaveGamble - Sun May 13, 2012 1:49 pm
According to Krzys (who was not the origin of that quote, but has invented a new genre pertaining to the plugin), the rules for creating his new genre of music, PitchFunk, are as follows:
1. You must have an instance of PitchFunk on every channel of the session.
2. You have fifteen minutes to complete the track, start to finish, including any recording.
3. The track must include a sinewave modulated by PitchFunk.
I think I'm going to compile PitchFunk examples somewhere on a SoundCloud page or something. It'll be a thriving new genre, of course. Give me a little while to get some samples together that are sufficiently weird
Dave.

I don't get why people have a problem with having a bit of fun while teasing a plugin? I mean, we know he WILL reveal what it is soon, right?
Me personally at least, I enjoy this stuff! I guess it's not for everyone?

Granted. It's a fine line though.
On one hand, I could say nothing and reveal the product when it's ready for sale, Apple-style,
but if I want to start the conversation earlier (perhaps with the idea of soliciting suggestions for better names), I have to be a little scant with details.
Also, and really this is the big point: This plugin is FUN!
There aren't many plugins that can make you actually burst out laughing when auditioning presets...
So, for instance, I could point out that the eight pitchshifting algos are quite serious business, and that the three delay-line models are pretty cool, or that the modulation is quite sophisticated, but it would be missing the point that with a couple of mouse clicks, you can make mad noises. Mad noises.
You /can/ use it to problem-solve; design choruses, flangers, doublers, delays, panners, whatever. And you probably will some of the time.
But I don't think that will give you any insight into just quite how f*cking nuts this thing is. Because you have all those modules, but they all interact. With configurable topology. And make the most mental noises you've ever heard.

Thanks, now that I know how many kinds and the types of building blocks (algorithms) the plugin is made of, I know whether to ignore it or expect it. If you want your pre-release announcement to really stand out
(and you obviously do) in this field of audio effect plugins which is full of overhyped low quality BS, providing that basic info is mandatory if you have something that's actually outstanding.
Now that I have a good enough basic idea of what this is about
(not everyone is unfamiliar with using multiple pitch/delay algorithms and LFOs to modulate them) I went back and read a little more and see that you intend to post samples as well, great. I suggest to post samples that showcase each algorithm separately as well, not just the crazy mangled stuff.

yeah, i do like the name pitch funk also, but you kow what? i don't give a shit for the name, as long as the plugin amazes me, which can only happen with audio examples at least, not to speak for being able to finally demo it...
so i'd say, give dave a bit time to put things in the dry and then we'll see/hear... at least _then_ we could speculate for a new name, if there is still a need for one at all...

Been playing with the beta and this beast will definitely benefit from a lot of presets to get people started. Things can get crazy fast!
I'm not that keen on pitchfunk as a name either, mainly because it goes against DMG's current naming style.
quite like:
MODernism
MODeration
MODesty
At least they are in keeping with EQuality and COMPassion. Only problem with calling it "MOD..." is that it isn 't a chorus/flange style plug like ubermod or anything. In that regard Pitchfunk is a bit closer to describing what this thing actually does.
Perhaps PITCHeresque describes things better?

No, it's a closed beta.
Also, nobody but Dave and I have seen/used the final beast yet - the earlier betas are pretty rudimentary compared to the version we're working on for release.

Apples and Oranges, I think. They both have pitch shifting and delay, but I think that's about as far as we can compare without getting misleading.
This thing is just f*cking mental. I was on the phone to Krzysz last night while he was testing/making presets, and I heard some stuff I can't even describe. After the deep lush flangers and choruses, things just got more and more weird.
They don't really fit into any category of effects I've heard before, or that have names, but they're cool as f+ck. We should get some audio together, really.... I have it. I'm going to record him tweaking stuff.

I even made up my own commercial for it. A cartoon. To bad i can't draw or animate to save my life.
Scene: Two kids (a boy and a girl) sitting bored on the floor. In the background is a flute and a violin. Neither is playing them. Setting is 50ies american infomercial, naive, kinda watered-out colors.
Kid 1: Geez i'm bored.
Kid 2: Me too ,what should we do ?
Kid 1: I don't know.
<cut> Half frame: kids astounded. Other half a cartoon batman type Sha-Blaam!
A funny bird appears. It's black with a large yellow beak.
Bird: Have no fear, Dr PitchFunk is here!
Kid 1: Wow who are you ?
Bird: I told you silly,i'm Dr PitchFunk!
Kid 2: Geez a real doctor ? What do you cure ?
Bird: Boredom (laughing) !
<cut> Scene: dancefloor. Several kids dancing and laughing. A discoball rotates, coloured spotlights.
