Prodyon will shut down business on the 1st of march, 2013

Dear KvR, dear prodyon customers:

After sleepless nights and weeks of cogitation, i finally
decided to shut down Prodyon. Forever.
No more on/off - it will be closed and won't come back.

I am very sorry.

Within the last year(s) i slowly but surely realized that i can't keep up
with the competition no more. On top of that there are several other
reasons that strengthen my decision. Two of them are:

Financial trouble. Prodyon doesn't generate income enough to pay
the bills, go out with my little daughter or fill the fridge.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Health problems. Since months now i have problems with my health.
I have the feeling i burn out myself, i struggle with high blood pressure
and daily dejection. I even went to a doctor and he confirmed that.
Damn, most of the time i even can't get out of my bed in the morning...

Well, while i'm writing this to inform you, i want to take the
opportunity and thank *everyone* here at KvR, everyone of my customers
and all i forgot. Yes, thank you very much for all your support!

Prodyon will be online the way it is now until Jan, 2014. All of my
PFL customers can still access their private PFL page. Customers that
pre-ordered Shortnoise will be refunded on the 1st of march.
I will still answer emails and give support. But my products won't be
upgraded/updated no more. I am sorry.

I had a great time but i think it's about time to look out for alternatives.
Believe it or not, i'm even thinking about getting a normal day job.

But since i'm Dennis, the crazy guy from Prodyon, i wouldn't leave you
guys like this.

That sucks! To be honest, I thought VOTOX was absolutely amazing! As a matter of fact it is an absolutely beautiful Kontakt Library that I find myself playing with quite often just because of its sheer playability and imaginative sound design! Did I mention that almost every patch sounds fabulous! I'm sending purely recuperative vibes! Much Love!

Man oh man. Dennis, I really hope you get yourself back on track. Your work is excellent, and I'm proud to be a PFL member.

I don't mean to pry or nag, and you obviously don't have to answer if you don't want to... but: Have you spoken to your doctor about maybe getting a different anti-depressant cocktail, and/or different high blood pressure meds? I speak from experience here, both my own and that of several friends who went through years of BS getting the mix right... but felt literally like new people when they did get the mix right.

Whats the download speed you got? Guess my server never experienced such a rush (which is positive i might add).

I hope your health improves, and I'm sorry to hear that you have to abandon software development. It's a tough business, so it's always sad to see a talented indie developer drop out of the race. I have only used a few of your products over the years, but it always seemed like you tried to do something different and offer good value for money.

I work within the plugin development industry, so I know that it can be much more difficult than people think to build, market, sell and support quality products. Often the public are naive and ungrateful at the best of times, even with cheaper products that offer good value.

All the best for the future, and if you feel better and fancy trying again you'll be welcomed back with any new products!

Was this ever released in a Kontakt version? I see the vsti links in my PFL file, but nothing about kontakt. Maybe not the full set, but are there ANY Kontakt instruments that you could make available from this set?

Shortnoise is also "released" as a Kontakt 4 Instrument collection, yes.
But keep in mind there are "only" 135 instruments and multis.
It should appear in everone's PFL area, tried deleting caches/refreshing?

I got the closeout bundle from Dennis this morning and he gives you allot of great stuff for a 15 dollar closeout price. Love the 2 soundfont sets he provides, can use those all the time.

I tried the new shortnoise kontakt 4 program and it is a very stable program for what is done up to this point with 135 presets which are different from the VST version sounds from what I can tell by the names. The GUI works very well and the few sounds I have tried so far sound great. I even added a few sound patches of my own into the shortnoise Kontakt version and they work great also.

I had Vortox but wanted to get the latest version of it in case I didnt have it.
That is a great sounding product also.

Want to thank Dennis again for all the efforts he put into his products and hope he gets back on the healthy track in whatever he does in the future.

There are one or two housekeeping tings I need to do - email you for the PFL link as I cant seem to find mine, DL and back-up my PFL stuff and I'd need to find out if you ever used that sample content I sent you in case I ever decide to sell it again in the future I'd need to know if its out there already etc. But all that can wait for awhile until the current rush subsides.

I sincerely wish you the best luck for the future and I hope you will stay in contact in some shape or form - I'll email you in the coming days but I just wanted to publicly say Thank You for the hours upon hours of joy PRODYON has given me!

Yes and no! Shortnoise.com is my domain, but i've never set up paypal@shortnoise.com. That's the fun thing about it. But it works!

You have made a classic error of saving the NKI patches to absolute path, instead of relative path.

This means I get an error that samples are missing when trying to load your NKI patches, because you have saved it so that my Kontakt thinks the samples are found in this folder:

C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Administrator\Eigene Datein\Native Instruments\Kontakt 4\Shortnoise Kontakt 4\Samples\

Can you please correct this and reupload the ShortNoise kontakt library with relative sample path.

I had the same problem. Somewhere a spamfilter eat the response mail from Dennis. I wrote him a mail to prodyon at shortnoise dot com (don't bother with the out of office autoreply) and shortly after got a mail from him with a forward of the original mail (incl. links).

I know of people that are unable to do something for months (due to a manic depression or similar mental disease), and then (almost suddenly) they feel better and produce something again. If that's your problem, I'm sorry if I have criticized your on-and-off-behaviour too often...
