This part sounds *very* interesting:

Quote:

The Kontakt Script Processor (KSP) is a powerful feature that outfits Kontakt 2 with an unlimited range of sophisticated performance features. KSP is a fully programmable processing engine that transforms and generates MIDI and control events on the basis versatile yet easy-to-learn script language. A KSP module can be an arpeggiator or a step sequencer, a MIDI recorder or a chord generator, a virtual guitar or a harp simulator, or whatever the user wants it to be -- complete with definable on-screen-controls. Kontakt 2 ships with a large assortment of pre-programmed KSP modules that can be used out of the box as well as modified according to individual needs. The NI website will also host a special KSP User Library where Kontakt 2 users will be able to freely trade their custom-programmed KSP modules.

Hopefully Reaktor will get some kind of scripting support.
cptgone - Thu Jan 20, 2005 9:19 am
OK, now where is my Reaktor5?

Wink
Sequent - Thu Jan 20, 2005 9:37 am
Wow, that sounds great. Lots of nice new features. I'm excited as I've been using Kontakt more and more.

Battery2, Absynth3, Kontakt2... okay Komplete Care is sounding much better now!!! And if one were to update to just those three apps, it's already paid for itself and we're ahead a bit too. Cool.
WillieJenkins - Thu Jan 20, 2005 9:42 am
Yeah, Komplete Kare is sounding better and better. If Reaktor 5 somehow drops in 2005, This would be a slam dunk
3*s - Thu Jan 20, 2005 9:44 am
Yay more upgrade fees. $169 to be exact.

Kontakt Script Processor! Shit!

Can only hope that it'll feed into my algorithmic toolset. Cool

I mentioned in a previous post, whether I would regret purchasing Komplete Kare - the answer is now a resounding no - this looks the business.

Now being a greedy bastard give me Reaktor 5 as well.

Hasn't paid itself for me yet. Battery is nice, but I have DR008. But I'm glad Kontakt2 is coming. I'd like to start using it as my sampler instead of Halion (got Halion before Kontakt was announced Sad)
Sicklecell666 - Thu Jan 20, 2005 10:13 am
wow.

That's a f**king Killer update..

Shocked
kuniklo - Thu Jan 20, 2005 10:25 am
Sounds like a shot across the bow of Gigastudio too. The convolution processor in particular.
audio/fault - Thu Jan 20, 2005 10:50 am

but i don't know if it's real.

Looks like what they are calling their "Multi Browser" -- I guess you can browse Modules (and their presets) this way. Should be an improvement.
BTW -- where did you find that pic?
kuniklo - Thu Jan 20, 2005 10:59 am
Wow. *Much* nicer looking UI. Hopefully this is for real.

I wonder if they've got anything in the cards for FM7?
Sicklecell666 - Thu Jan 20, 2005 11:02 am
That looks like the new scipting library thingy..And theer's also goingto be a User Library for extra scipt sets..

Love

your telling me Wink pricey update but looks great.
wrench45us - Thu Jan 20, 2005 12:28 pm
pretty good day for someone like me with P5 and Komplete Care.

given the expected size of the new Kontakt library, I may have saved money in one area only to spend it for hardware -- a firewire external HD
cptgone - Thu Jan 20, 2005 1:48 pm
NAMM 2005 rocks.
aMUSEd - Thu Jan 20, 2005 1:54 pm
Hope it has MIcrotuning like Kompakt does already
Pädy - Thu Jan 20, 2005 1:57 pm
€ 149 is ridiculous. I won't upgrade - read: can't afford to upgrade.
Ixox - Thu Jan 20, 2005 1:59 pm
Is this the most expensive VSTi of the world ? Shit!
499 Euros and 149 Euros for 1.x user... Rolling Eyes
ericj23 - Thu Jan 20, 2005 2:04 pm
i'm wondering if the convolution bit might mean they are planning on being able to play giga 3 files at some point !
bduffy - Thu Jan 20, 2005 2:05 pm
Man that is some price for the update! Looks amazing though - many of us have suffered greatly from the supposed "1.5 update" that we paid for, we should've gotten a fix; But this looks like just the medicine, something worth paying for. I can't !$#@!% wait!!!

Bring this Mother F..... on - I want to feed it to my dual Xeon.

KSP

Wow. I guess I can use "native instruments" and "innovative" in the same sentence now. Just yesterday I saw the picture of a man cutting his penis in half. Now I've seen everything.

Except for the release of the Minimonster. But come on now, that's just unrealistic... Rolling Eyes

I was kind of freaked out by Kontakt at first but am really starting to like it quite a bit. So much so that Halion has been pretty much retired and probably won't be upgraded.

Gigastudio was retired a while ago for me.

I also like that all of the East West type libraries can be opened and tweaked and mixed and matched in Kontakt.
wrench45us - Thu Jan 20, 2005 4:29 pm
so given the cpu efficiency of Kotakt and NI synth sin general, what's the odds that the convolution reverb will be real-time and efficient?

i'm thinking it will all be there and wrapped with a bow.
maybe i'll get some use out of my Spirit Canyon CD yet.

I was thinking the same thing.Since I already have convolution that feature is meaningless to me anyway,so is surround.Scripting will just complicate my life even more and the GUI looks like Kompakt(ughh)meets Absynth 2(more ughh). The EMU import seems promising but Iv'e outgrown all my old disks anyway.I guess I'm the only one here not excited by this update.I'm actually hoping they'll leave FM7 alone this time.

I'm not hugely excited either because this means that kontakt 1.x's annoying bugs will never be addressed and I'm not sure I want to get caught in this upgrade cycle just to get fixes on products I already spent money on...
suthnear - Fri Jan 21, 2005 2:25 am
Ah, who am I trying to kid? I use kontakt all the time, bugs notwithstanding. I'll be on this like a horny dog...

The New Instrument Library

KONTAKT 2 includes a comprehensive sample library overflowing with top-quality instruments: a selection of orchestra instruments taken from the exceptional Vienna Symphonic Library, an excellent grand piano, authentic electric pianos, acoustic instruments, electronic as well as acoustic drum kits, drum and instrument loops and a whole lot more. Furthermore, the library also contains several instruments that make specific use of the revolutionary KONTAKT Script processor. For example, guitar and orchestra instruments that emulate particular playing styles with unprecedented precision.

Create unusual instruments using the dozens of scripts already in the library or write your own. An extensive selection of impulse responses is also included, allowing the reverb of real-life concert halls and echo chambers to be re-created authentically – or use it to generate some extraordinary special effects.

The instruments and samples in the library are courtesy of Vienna Symphonic Library, East West, Zero-G, Sonic Implants, Northstar, Native Instruments and others

if they havent fixed the browser so it support regular keyarrow browsing by now, it really sucks! Razz

but a big thumbs up if they did!

and i hope as well as they have midi drag n drop support in the loop/slicer tool supported to! otherwise its as useful as intakt. (not much that is..)

i may sound harsh, but these are just basic features that would be supported loong time ago imo.
whyterabbyt - Fri Jan 21, 2005 6:02 am
I really hope GPO and the like get updated with appropriate scripts...
Phaedo - Fri Jan 21, 2005 8:38 am
Real question with the KSP is whether the big orchestral libraries will support it so that you don't need a separate "performance tool".

Cool tho.
cooljazz58 - Fri Jan 21, 2005 9:18 am
Hi all,

I noticed under the modulation screen shot under Group Insert FX a button for "Pro 53". Can we route stand alone effects (ex. Native Instruments Pro 53 effects section)through Kontakt 2.0?

cj58 Very Happy

Green Red Brownell - Fri Jan 21, 2005 9:31 am
You can't use VST's as effects, if that's what you are asking. The Pro-53 filter is one of the new built-in filter types. Read here:
