The Nintendo didn't have a perfect square wave, rather a somewhat rounded saw-ish square (not much unlike the 303), which is much more prone to bit reduction. Theres probably somewhere on the net that has an image of the Nintendo square wave, in that case you can use an additive synth to recreate it.

About arpeggiators, thats more C64 style...

yes i remember all the snes games, but I played them when sega and nintendo 64 were already out.

Fzero was a sick game. I beat it the other day in an emulation, actually.
