I recommend a good sampler. Make some homemade samples, mangle the shit out of them, then plug 'em in and play 'em. If you really want to get far out, get Absynth because it has a shitload of mutipoint envelopes for shaping your sound which you can assign to just about any parameter. Lot's of movement there. Import some mangled sample content into that puppy and you're in strange lead synth heaven .

Easy solution: EZ Poly - http://www.krakli.co.uk/
Normal solution - any synth with modulation possibilities. Oatmeal sounds ace.

Symptohm:Melohman
you can get great motion in the invidiual sub-patches as every parameter has an lfo and envelope, but when you add in the morphing controls between sub-patches youre in weird motion heaven.
definitely try it out as the whole melohman thing is brilliant. every plug needs a melohman.

Vector Synths are great for this type of sound.
I'd reccomend some plugs but IMHO there isn't anything as great sounding as the prophet VS or yamaha SY-series synths out in vst-land (yet).

I'd reach for Cameleon 5000 first.
With the ability to apply 68-breakpoint envelopes to just about every parameter Absynth is good for this kind stuff, though it can be a bit too powerful at times.

Arturia's Moog Modular V is fun for weird moving leads.
