O.K. here it is, Drum Nirvana...

1. Has to have a beat grid (32 steps)...
2. Drum synthesis
3. Samples (layers)
4. FX
5. Articulations

Some of this stuff is covered by a few, but so far... nothing does it all :?

Doesn't GURU do all of what you are asking?
1. Has to have a beat grid (32 steps):
-Up to 4 pages of 32 steps (128 steps), but that it matters. You can chain single pages.

2. Drum synthesis:
-oscillators can be used for subtractive syth with fx and amp envelopes, filtering etc.

3. Samples (layers):
-8 velocity cross-fade layers (can load audio loops (WAV/AIFF/REX), MIDI loops, single-hits)
-includes library of over 2GB of professional sample content,

4. FX:
-pad fx, three aux effects units per engine, master effects unit

5. Articulations
pitch graphs, resonant filter graphs, velocity graphs, and scrub graph articulations

additional details:
8 Engines, each comprising:
- 16 MIDI-triggered Sample Pads
- Powerful 128-step sequencer
- 24 MIDI-triggered Patterns
- Three Aux effects units
- Master effects unit

Advanced Step Sequencer
- 128 steps, 16 channels, 24 memories per engine, graphical automation, MIDI remote control, tempo multipliers, real-time recording with undo

Comprehensive Pad Editor allowing individual control of the following for each pad:
- Gain, pan, coarse/fine tune
- Resonant filter (LP/BP/HP)
- 3 Aux sends and an Insert effect slot
- Start/end point adjust
- Amp/FX envelope
- 8 velocity cross-fade layers

I've been demoing Drumular against RMIV and eXTs own Sampler component... RMIV is not doing very well in this comparison and it might end up in the Market Place... I've never been too impressed with RMIV's electronic sample content, there are some great acoustic kits but I don't actually make that kind of music... I could do well with NSKit, GSCW and the Ruffrider kits (prolly don't need even them all :hihi: ) and for fast kit assembling eXT Sampler pisses all over RMIV. Even Drumular has better sample preview.

The Linplug drum synth is very nice, but this Drumular is easily better. I love the minimalistic GUI- very stylish, readable and small.

Anybody who's looking for a drum synth/sampler should really check Drumular out, I'm quite impressed!

tetraplan, do you have Stomper working on XP?

Post

Yes, I have something called Stomper Hyperion which appears to be Stomper's last incarnation. Pretty old, but it works on XP.

Thanks. When I first checked out Microtonic, it didn't appeal to me at all (too electronic)... but now I guess I'm ready for it, and the timing is right too :D.
