oh well it's all the plugins everyone else has anyway.
comment was not a tilt at Behringer, just a wry observation
on how corporate doesn't mind helping itself to freeware
(although we are certain they approached every one of those
devs!) - they all do it.(and i've got several bits of behringer
kit i'm perfectly happy with)

how do bob.

Behringer has been trying to get away w/stuff all along, like their guitar pedals(Boss & Electro Harmonix ripoffs).

This free Dominus Player:
http://thecorestylerz.net/vst/dominus-v ... nus-player

It comes as an installer, that fails to extract with universal extractor.

I feel a bit paranoid installing something from an unknown dev, that I don't know what the installer could install on my computer :scared:

Anybody have tried it?

Post

I had problems with installing/deinstalling it: the exe would freeze mid process (although the plugin got installed). The GUI is horrible (very amateusish looking) while the sound is nothing to write home about (pretty much like the full Dominus). The plugin is also on the hungry side CPU-wise (at least on my machine). Pass.

There is an msi installer + cab archive inside that exe but I found no way to extract them without running it.

As for the plug itself, it seems it's merely a player for the dominus vsti presets. Combined CPU usage of Cantabile host + plugin is about 20% of my Opteron 64 single core 2.8Ghz CPU but it maxes out the Cantabile performance monitor for some reason and I get audio buffer underruns with it if I move windows around on the desktop while it plays...

For completists only.

Thanks for the heads up, I think I'll pass.

I guess I'm preconceived but there is something with z's as in thecorestylerz.net, and warez, that makes me think something is fishy :D

Heh, I know what you mean :) This one is legit - just very buggy :) Though unlike the other available players, IMO this one fails at promoting the full synth pretty bad. But then again Dominus full is subpar (again, IMO) so :) Nice idea (I wish all devs would drop the demos and go for the player option instead), but poorly implemented (on an already shakey base).

Just realized that AAS Swatches got updated to v116 a couple of months back, now with 112 sounds: https://www.applied-acoustics.com/swatches/overview/

I have that Dominus player installed in Sandboxie (pretty sure it could have worked easily w/o an installer, maybe some samples though), very high cpu and no poly choices, sounds like its meant to compete/imitate mainstream stuff, most of the sounds are weird and unusable in general, but I like it as a demo.

haha RBR: WheatMidi - i haven't tried it but the concept is
the funniest VST idea yet: a Wii MIDI drums controller.
can we have a video demonstration? (with the guitarplaying
cat)

wah, you've been really busy again...that lot is going to take
a while to download! lots of unique+interesting MIDI things.

what's that weird stringless guitar you're playing(with cat)?
had any luck with the Roland guitar MIDI converter(?GK etc..?)
or what do you use?
