I know this is a long-shot, but I was hoping someone might have Luxonix's LFX-1310 plugin - specifically version 1.1.5 or earlier. I'm using it (if I had it) on an old (Win98SE) computer and the newer versions aren't compatible. The earliest I was able to find was 1.2.2 and it didn't work. I used to have it years ago when it first came out and it worked fine... but for some reason I decided to delete it, and I can't even find a copy of it on my back-up cd's. I already tried using "wayback" but that failed.

I use LFX-1310 v1.3 on Windows ME (should run just as well on Win98SE) and I have no earlier version, sorry.

Like I said, the earliest version I could find was 1.2.2 from this link: http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?id=530 and unfortunately it didn't work. I think they improved the CPU performance (SSE?) along the way and that may have broke it's compatibility with Win98SE. Thanks for trying though.

I have checked it a bit more closely and it runs on my system only because I have KernelEx installed, you might want to install it too as it greatly improves compatibility with newer applications. LFX 1.2 or 3 most probably would run on your system too then (unless there is also a minimum CPU requirement which your machine would not match).

Thanks, I'll look into it.

Thanks so much for coming to my rescue spacedad! I'm happy to say this version actually works.

On trying this out further, I noticed it isn't recognized by my VST host (Buzz) - since it's not added to the plugin menu on the startup scan. I think I read that there was a change in how programs were recalled between version 1.1.3 and 1.1.5. Perhaps version 1.1.3 is the one I'm looking for. I also use "Winamp VST Bridge" and the "Chainer" Fx rack with the xmplay audio player, as a way to load VST Fx plugins. When I load LFX-1310 into "Chainer" (plugin, wet pan dry trp, preset) all appear empty like there's no plugin loaded, even though it does load - I can access it through the "Editor" buttons.

I had a similar issue with the Firebird plugin. An older version shows up in Buzz, whereas a newer version doesn't. But when I open the newer version through Explorer it loads in properly. So I'm thinking maybe an older version (possibly 1.1.3) of LFX-1310 will work without the glitches.

Regardless, I'm glad to have 1.1.5 now, since it does work.

i'm not too familiar with it,tbh.it seems to call for lots of folder/preset locations.maybe it assumes they're in a different place or something.sorry i don't have 1.1.3 though.

Post

No need to apologize, the fact you had 1.1.5 is amazing. Thanks again.

Post

on wayback it says in 2006 there;s a v1.1.but it's not accessible,as you need to leave email.
have you asked if they still have it?

Post

Why didn't I think to do that? I guess that approach is a little too obvious for me :P

Well it turns out it isn't quite as bad as it was. It dawned on me that VST support for Buzz (Polac VST Loader) and the Chainer Fx plugin were both from the same developer. So that made me think maybe that's where the problem is. In turn, I tried a different FX loader plugin (MultifxVST) and it worked ok with LFX1310. But then I decided to give Chainer another try, and it worked fine in Buzz. So I tried it with xmplay and the "Winamp VST Bridge" again, and this time - no problems. Computers can be so tempermental. It still doesn't show up in Buzz which is an annoyance - so I'll see if I can find an earlier version on their website forum. I'm relieved it works with xmplay, cause oddly enough that's why I was tracking it down in the first place. I want to be able to use it as an external multi-fx plugin through Chainer.
