Old Free VSTi Gems From The Past

mztk, in the short time I've been here, I've noticed that proprietary/platform-specific products have grown much more common than
just straightforward VST/VSTi's. I think it's just easier and more profitable to develop products with a well-defined user base; for someone
like me who doesn't own all the latest/full versions of Live, Reason, Kontakt, Reaktor, etc. it can be disappointing to constantly see yet
more shiny new toys that no doubt sound great, but (A) often take up a ton of disk space due to being sample-based and/or (B) require something I don't own "Ooh, that looks cool, it's free, it's.. Oh. Max for Live. Never mind."
So, yeah- I feel yer pain. But there's still developers like Saltline, and happy surprises like OBXD that pop up now and again..
The glorious heyday of multitudes of folks cranking out all sorts of weird and wonderful instruments and effects has gone, down to a few
stalwarts who still enjoy doing it- many just simply found it to be a passing hobby, or more trouble than it was worth.
I always pop by here to see if there's some yet-unheard-of-by-me treasure to be unearthed, but the pickings will no doubt become
ever slimmer with time. At some point, I'll have to simply learn the heck out of everything I've hoarded thus far, one by one

Looks like I was living in the past. Yeah, that's the same magazine. My apologies. Good news though!eidenk wrote:Tell this to Sound & Recording who lets you download them from their website: http://www.soundandrecording.musikmachen.de/arkmabat wrote:They're not free. 58 in all have been made by u-he if I am not mistaken and about half of that are freely downloadable from the mag website. You can also find the first podolski version there btw.

Yeah a lot of database entries are patches or Kontakt, I like to demo stuff so it's not of interest to me. There's always something from sonic xtc where it's like the Synthmaker stock osc & filter hooked up direct and it's payware lol.

I've forgotten how to post images and can find no clues on KVR, only other people looking for the solution.

Click on the img button and then paste the image url between the two tags that have appeared in the post editor.

I have to use the original link I posted and then get the real url by right clicking on properties and then use that with Img. Many thanks to Pytchblend and eidenk for helping me get there.
