i just dont get how a synth can be specific to just those styles/genres..
EBM/Industrial sounds are pretty basic as a rule, any VA is up to the job, you just need to learn your craft...and careful use of FX [/quote]
Your right to some degree but if your a novice or just not good at making sounds, Renegade has some really good harsh presets for bass sounds. I know some stuff about programming but my sounds are never as good as the useable presets i find. I'm more of a tweaker. And your right some of those ebm patches are simple as shit. Especially the pulse and saw leads with delay lol

For really good EBM.Industrial style sounds, I seem to always turn to
TERA3. If I am in a rush to find some cool sequenced sounds, I'll load up
the rhythmic bank and hit the slot machine looking thing in the top right corner of the GUI and keep hitting it untill I get what I want.
Usually can get some cool rhythmic sounds in just a few moments.
Virsyn TERA 3 never fails me

vurtbox for harsh and caustic pads/leads
HG Fortune LPM for old-school industrial rhythms
mangle everything with Darkware Glitch plugs

Any suggestions for MAC users?
I'm looking for AU units.

For darker musical styles, I personally recommend Scanned Synth Pro for two reasons
1. It sounds friggin' EVIL!
2. It's "Pay What You Wish" pricing.

Other than that, just add any VA and you're all set, so I would go download Synth1 for free here:

well, I.Gor, you res'd a 2 year old thread, so they might not even be around anymore to tell you
But the synth Xenos recommended is killer for wicked-evil sounds and noises. Windows or OS X Somehow John over at Humanoid Sound Systems harnessed scanned synthesis into a useable product that sounds like nothing else out there.
I have it, and use it a lot.

I've been thinking lately, that I've had this in my "secret-weapons" folder for too long...KrisM wrote:well, I.Gor, you res'd a 2 year old thread, so they might not even be around anymore to tell you

So I've been putting together a few banks, I'm calling:
"Knife&Fork" and "Toaster".
With (my take on) "industrial", and non-bread&butter in general, in mind.
Regardless, it's a great tool.
