having shaved my VST list down to a bare minimum recently, i have now shaved it down to a single VST synth, so i cant make a top 5 list.

I see some have Harmless as their top synth here above all else, but when I demoed it during it's 'fire sale' I found it bland, hollow and .. well .. harmless compared to others, so it must really have some hidden depths or something else I missed..

I don't believe that anyone listed the Dcam Synth Squad in their golden five. I am shocked! :-o

I cannot stop raving about D16's Nepheton and Drumazon. I noticed that other people have mentioned it. It's my secret weapon. :hihi:

1. Omnisphere - I love this so much, maybe too much - it makes things too easy sometimes.
2. NI - I have every VSTi they make, I just love the ability to sound design, especially within Kore - it's so easy to get something unique and good sounding.
3. M-Tron (I'd love to have the latest version but I haven't been able to dig up my original registration info).
4. Superior Drummer 2.0 (I have most of the sample libraries for it as well - it's the most useful VSTi I own - finally my drums sound realistic and professional).
5. EW Play - Ok, so there was some issues when it first came out, and there probably still are a few glitches here and there, but I really enjoy having these sample libraries (EWQLSO Gold Play, Goliath, Stormdrum 2, Ministry of Rock, Voices of Passion) - I've used them all for various things, and overall I'm pleased. I think EW oversold the capability of the Play engine, but other than that, I'm happy.

I have tons of other VSTi's that I use for specific things - I still like D'cota, for instance - it can get some pretty radical sounds thanks to it's unique layout and effects section. Xphraze, too, which has so much character and capability.

I've never bought a VSTi I wish I hadn't, although I have a few VST effects that don't get much use.

Sounds okay but the shitty little GUI is just too much for me.

Which one's your favorite? The only one I have is the Pro 53. I wish that Native Instruments wouldn't have discontinued it.

3 - ConcreteFX Kubik 2.5
4 - Wusikstation 6

Been looking for an FM synth to add to this and quite interested in Rhino after playing with RhinoCM so that is probably my next synth to add to the list. It will probably replace Wusik, which is hardly used now I have Alchemy :)
