Juce OPLVst would be a nice one. Pretty exact emulation of the OPL2 chip. It has all 8 Waveforms from the OPL3 but not its 4OP configs. It also supports the OPL percussion mode.
Don't know if there is a tweak for pitchbend range but that thing is open source so maybe someone can find out.
Previous versions had an issue with the feedback parameter allowing only effective levels from 0 to 3 which was solved in the latest version.
It has a nice UI and you can load and save SBI instrument files.
With a bit trickery and FM knowledge you gan get pretty nice sounds. I even managed to do PWM with that thing.
The aliasing and the envelope gritttiness is very close to the original.
Not as noisy as the 2413 though, but that emulates the previous sound chip anyway. :)

NOPE! Anything but Juce OPL2VST. I think, that since next is the 100th OSC, Any one synth would be more fitting.
It's very tasty, I swear!

For OSC 100 please use a cross platform synth -- it would be a drag for the Mac users to not be able to participate!

hiya osc, so i finally started the OSC 93 tutorial series I talked about for my track "Collider". The first two videos are up, look for more to come shortly. Hopefully there are some good tips for the 'any synth' competition this month. leave me some comments on the video letting me know if there's anything particular you want covered. cheers.

^ Love those vids, mmGhost! Thanks for doing them, and I'm looking forward to more.

Here's some inspiration for the competition

Awesome videos so far. Subbed :tu:
Can't wait to see how some of the crazy automation hinted at in the first video was done.
Guess we need more windows only months to give you more time for videos

Wow! for the track and the videos (looking forward for the next episodes :hyper:). I dig a bit of neuro funk, so you got another fan here.

Powerful machine you got there if you can run a project like that... :borg:

BTW, what monitors do you use? I'm looking to buy a pair.

I use the KRK Rokit 8's, but honestly I prefer headphones for whatever reason. For those I highly recommend the Audio Technica ATH-M50x. Best I've used for the price by far.

aight, i uploaded videos 3, 4, and 5. Been a nik under the weather this week, hope to get to the kik and sn this weekend. need to finish 'em up so i can get at the any-synth track...

My ideal setup would be a pair of genelic monitors + sub and a pair of dt 880s + subpac. Not that I've done way too much research on it or anything.

I sketched out a synth1 track in ~ an hour and a half as a quick test of using only 9927 earbuds, (these are probably way out of most people's price range -they're over twice the price I paid for the silver equivalent :!: a few months ago. The track is 10 patches from a saw init, made mostly during the sesh, the others from this week). Good news, it almost turned out alright! More time or referencing on the laptop's speakers could've helped :hihi:

The secret is to not do that. Rather, have multiple pairs, including a cheap pair like koss that reveal the lower mids farting out  (where some saturation/compressing/limiting distorts unpleasantly), in a way that the dignified audio technicas like my m40x hide because they are scooped in the low mids, though not nearly as scooped as the sexier sounding m50x. Both have great sub extension, and are great for noise isolation during loud instrument tracking, but tbh I personally wouldn't recommend them for sound design.

I could write a giant post about using multiple reference monitors, comparing open and closed headphones, why closed headphones are better for tracking and open are better for long sound design/mixing/mastering sessions, the industry standard range in the mdr-7506/k240/hd280/m40x (and soon shp9500) ballpark, monitoring room acoustics and sub positioning... but I'd better get back to just practicing making things using whatever is fastest to use that's in reach. :wheee:

:) Today I'm going to audition a pair of baby Genelix, the 8010s. Quite expensive, hope they blow me away...

Are these generic monitors better than the genelic ones?

For percusion, can I design the sounds in the synth, bounce to audio and use a drum rack on Ableton Live (those bounced sounds will play in simpler)?
