PPG Wave 3.V is updated to v1.0.2 now:

http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/version-102.html

improvements in v1.0.2:
"Fixed a problem with editor window being opened and closed multiple times.

This update fixes a problem that occasionally occured after the plug-in window had been opened and closed multiple times. Furthermore it contains all improvements of version 1.0.1, among others playback of stereo samples and optimizations that allow up to 20% more voices."

Hi mate,

nice to hear about the new PPG bank. Mine will take a bit more time but i'm quite sure it's finished within the next weeks. I was a bit "lazy" in the last days... :)

Best wishes,

thanks for the head's up - updated d/l now. I sort of expected an e-mail from Waldorf telling me about the update - maybe I missed the e-mail but I don;'t think so.

Presumably the new sound banks will go in the files section on the site?

If you talk about Rob's and mine those will be commercial soundsets and will be available at the Waldorf Online shop but there are lot's of free sounds from Rob and me in the factory sounds.
Anyway if i produce enough patches maybe i could publish a few free ones on KVR or as an addition to the factory sounds.

Hi mate,

nice to hear it's finished. Mine will be finished before the end of the month i hope.

At the moment i'm working on some free patches for the ARP Quadra Kontakt instrument:

http://www.synthmagic.co.uk/

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... c&start=30

I've always wanted a Quadra emulation and finally it's here. I've made around 30 Kontakt instruments in 2 days now. I'm just reprogramming the 16 factory sounds from the patch sheets in the Quadra manual.

Tomorrow or today in the evening i'll go back working on the PPG 3.V bank.

How does a sample based emulation of a divide down OSC synth work?

You could ask the same question about Soniccouture Novachord. The Novachord is even more complicated. I don't see how samples could NOT replicate the original sound if the quality is good enough (the Quadra instrument contains 560 MB of multisamples). The sound quality of the Quadra (and the Novachord plugin too) is excellent.
BTW the Quadra contains 4 section (Bass, Strings, Polysynth and Lead Synth) so i'm not sure if all 4 sections use divide down OSCs. I guess that it's a combination of those and "normal" analog circuits.

UPDATE:
Here is an article about the Quadra:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARP_Quadra

Only the polyphonic sections (Strings + Poly) seem to use divide down OSCs based on the Omni Strings synth.

I guess the same way as the G-Forces Virtual String Machine.

Re the Quadra, I think only the polyphonic parts are divide down, it's a sort of Omni/ Axxe-Solus hybrid.
