IIRC, this has been covered before but I couldn't find it by using the search option.
What VSTi is the most similar to the Virus C, especially in features and controls, if not exactly sound-alike?

Where have all the adverbs gone?

On a less serious note...
NI Reaktor has a an ensemble that looks just like the Virus (acts similar) but lacks some key features as far as I can tell. The creator actually went through the trouble of getting all the waveforms from the Virus A as well... I dig it.
I used to own a Virus B and I am about 75% satisfied with this as a replacement... but I haven't seen anything that can really replace one.

ZynAddSubFx. Not the easiest synth to learn, but when that is done then you have an awesome array of possibilities at your hands.

Many using for similar sounds (often the typical pluck-sounds) Sylenth1 or the newer Dune. TBH Dune can get closer... I would try both

Virus B Powercore version
But for real virus sound, buy a virus - makes sense right?
I think, everyone who buyed a virus, and explore them detailed, and now so his amount of sound-power, didn't would replace it with a softsynth.
And there is no softsynth on the market, which is with his layout focused on beeing like a Virus. But there are enough synths which can be also flexible and powerful, without beeing a virus clone, like U-He Zebra or Dune.

There's someone who made a Virus from the original Reaktor Virus synth, but didn't post it in the NI Forum. Probably because he used the actual logo and what-not. As far as I can tell, it lacks an arp or step sequencer, and the virus 'samples' are just one sample. It's not even mixed correctly like the original virus oscillator mix. It sounds good, though.
Don't just go downloading anything that says Virus VST. About a decade ago, there was a .dll floating around that said this, but if you put it in your VST plugin folder, it would start slowly deleting your other VST's. I speak from experience on this...

There is also one called SurivB for Reaktor but that one is based on the Virusb and not C.
here is a Video of it and the download link from the guy who made it.
