Maybe I should get myself over to Gearslutz after all.

There's not one person on KVR who knows the answer to this simple question? Oh mighty and knowledgeable sampling gurus?

Was it something I said? :hihi:
Next time I'll skip the little history lesson, ok. :)

KVR I AM disappointed in you. 8)
short answer: no and there are a few threads about that subject available. took me a few seconds to find: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=282243

Thanks. It took me half an hour not to find and I can usually find anything I want in that time, if it exists somewhere on the nets. Oh well, guess I just didn't put in quite the perfect search term for google. Half an hour to find out the answer to such a simple question is far too long anyway.

Then the other half hour I spent reading the 'almost, but not quite' answers to my question and the conclusion I came to was that it was most certainly possible. Wrong and wrong!

That's why I thought someone here would know. Oh well, it's all good, the less NI junk I have on my system the better. Actually, I've run out of hard drive space, so would love to install their free junk, but I think I'll wait a while till I get my new 2.5" WD 750GB HD.

Cheers for the reply. I found the samples on the net though and loaded them into Battery, did a bit of editing and was blown away by how powerful and cutting those drum sounds are still today. Not sure if they are Lin Drum or Oberheim DMX, but the kick and snare certainly sounded familiar. Cut through my mix like a knife through butter.

Anyway, thanks for letting me know. And I promise to brush up on my ~seeking~ skills.

You can open the samples (in the Collected Samples folder) in any player, but not the nki files. So you'll have to recreate the loop points for any sample that used them. You can play the samples in Kontakt Player by going to the files view on the left, and navigating to the folder containing the nki files. Double click the first one and it will open. Then you can cycle through them using the arrows to the right of the "Demo" indicator. You only get 15 minutes demo time with Kontakt Player 5. In previous versions it was 30 so maybe see if you can find KP4.

I too thought I could use Kontakt Player to play these. In fact I signed up here looking for missing parts of this set. In the end I bought the Peter Vogel CMI app. In time I'll pick up Kontakt (well, probably Komplete as it's the better value) but it's a bit annoying that everyone uses it when I have EXS24 sitting here in Logic. Especially considering the price.

The samples themselves aren't encrypted and can be used with any other sampler. There should be two samples per patch with the root note in the name of each sample so it shouldn't be too hard to map them.

I'm not sure if Directwave can load NKI patches but I don't think these are encrypted as far as I know. If Directwave can load NKI patches then it might only be older versions. You should be able to load them in Kontakt Player.

it took a few attempts to find links that work, but i've finally got it all downloaded. i'll play with it this week. since most of my samples are in EXS24 format, I don't use Kontakt much, but i've heard it's a much more robust sample playback engine because of the scripting. i wonder if there's a better way to distribute these files, say, using Copy.com or Dropbox.

Timely bump - thank you!
I'd forgotten I had those Fairlight samples.
Now I'm off to see what Adze can do to them ...

Likewise. I got my Komplete 9 upgrade yesterday so I finally have a usable Kontakt.

my Komplete 9 upgrade should be here by the weekend :)

I usually just run apache from home, but I'm still half-homeless, so I can't be running any servers. I do have the files, but I see some folks are reupping when necessary :)

Hopefully this will sort out the hosting for a good while:

Also, would anyone know of a decent free web server that would allow me to upload my own HTML and that's not too nasty with ads and popups? This whole Wordpress business is way overkill and too messy for my taste.

Estimated space / bandwidth needs?

Just enough for some html docs and images. 20-30 MB maybe? Bandwidth, I doubt I'd get much traffic really. I'm thinking temporary until I can have a proper setup with access to ports and run from home again.

For those who missed it, like myself, LBN is hosting the files in his server and posted direct links:

This is home-made old-style HTML, and english is not my native language, so feel free to point out any mistakes.
