This is my demo clip for the "Videogame Mania" soundpack for NI Massive. The patches used in the entire clip were as follows:
BA Lo-Fi Triangle
DR Noise Hits N Hats
FX Coin (E4)
FX Grab the Mushroom (G4)
FX Mario Jump
FX Pipe Speklunker
LD Mario's Macros (The underwold and overworld themes used the same patch, but with different Macro Control settings).
All the patches in this set have Macro Controls assigned for a huge range of sonic possibilities in a single patch. Videogame Mania is available to purchase for those interested, but I'm still waiting on Torben Hansen's demo before starting the official release process:

Thanks for the kind words . Believe it or not, Massive is actually a really good choice for VGM sounds haha. To make even a simple chiptune patch sound as authentic as possible can be a complex task as there is a lot of very, very subtle things going on under the hood. Case in point: Quantized amplitude envelopes, I used a combination of Envelopes and Preformer LFOs to get that slightly choppy character as the sound decays. Also, even simple noise needs some lo-fi grit added in order to sound authentic. Lastly, I have quite a large number of patches in the set (not shown in my demo) that need those Performer LFOs to do other assorted tasks unique to old sounchips (particularly the Commodore 64 arps, psuedo-wavetables, etc).gamecat666 wrote:isnt using Massive slightly overkill for this?

Glad you guys liked my demo ). I can't wait to see what Torben Hansen comes up with for his demo...he's really good with Commodore 64 type tunes and there's quite a bit of SID stuff in here.
BTW, those NES sound effects shown in my demo (jump, coin, mushroom and pipe) can be warped beyond recognition via the Macro Controls .

Authentic patches, I'm not a Massive owner but they sound really good, seems a great fun bank...
