Just wondering about this synth, there is a version of the player on the CM disk, I installed on my DAW earlier today but didn't see any presets so didn't mess with it much, but looking into the synth it is modeled on came up with a very interesting analog synth:

Anyhow from what I can tell the CM looks the same as this:

And the full version:

Hi Braj,

You're probably on win7. I think you should reinstall the PKBII player in a folder where you have all rights ( like x86 etc ). Then you'll see the presets. There's a detailed chapter on this in the PolyKB II manual, that you can download on the site.( PolyKB DL page )

If you have any other questions on the PolyKB I'll be happy to answer.

You can also listen to tons of audio demos on the PolyKB II audio page : The player and the PK II share the same audio engine. On the Player you can assign and control up to 8 paramters in real time ( filters enveloppes etc) + you can control arpeggiator, effects and polyphony.

You can also upgrade to the PKBII player full version at a special price iirc. Its very affordable.

Thanks, I'm on Vista but I'll try that. What is the difference between the CM version and the normal player?

Is that the only thing?

No the regular Poly KB II Player has much more presets on board, and it can also import add-on soundbanks ( there are around 800 additionnal potential presets in those banks, including those that are very affordable at Xils-Lab ), wich the CM version can't do.

At this price its a steal. The 8 assignable slots are really a plus because you can control all segments of an envelope PLUS the filter cut-off and rez, and there's still room for two additional parameters to control.

There's also an upgrade price for the big version if you purchase the PolyKB II player, and atm you can benefit from the Xmas discounts at xils-lab ( up to 50% ie from 20 to 50% to be more precise )

Polykb II is the only VA synth I would care to buy these days. Demoed it once - it does sound good and has some nice standout features like onboard sequencer and voice modulation. It is pretty unique.

But as it is now, I really do not need more synths. Moreover I like my synths digital these days, so I definitely have no urgent need for another VA synth. I was kind of impressed by it, but add to the two former points that it needs a dongle and it's a no-buy for me for a foreseeable future.

You don't need a dongle, there is an option to either use eLicenser or iLok when you order.

Note also the upgrade path:

Get the PolyKB II player for just $17,5 at AudioMidi now.

And then upgrade to full version for "just" €79 during the current sale at Xils Lab

That will save almost 40% off the regular retail price which is €149, plus that you get the PolyKB II player also

OOpps Yes you need one dongle for the full PolyKB II ( not for the player, Oxium, or Xils 3 LE )

The Elicencer is the synchrosoft dongle, and Ilok well is Ilok. We could not get from Elicencer the possibility to have the software only activation, it seems only few companies have that possibility, and only the ones who had it previously. If its possible in the future we'll add that possibility, bht unfortunately for now its impossible.

OK? So only Arturia and Steinberg got the soft e-licenser option?
Arturia wrote:What is eLicenser?

eLicenser (formerly Syncrosoft, now acquired by Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH) is the name of a German company that developed a patented copy-protection solution for software applications. The system is based on the use of a dongle, which can be:

*) Soft-eLicenser (virtual dongle, default) It is an encrypted file on the hard disk, created and used as a container to store licenses instead of using the USB device. This container file has a serial number (2 x 10 digits).

*)USB-eLicenser (hardware dongle, optional) It looks very much like, but is strongly different from, an USB stick. This hardware dongle also has a serial number (2 x 6 digits) and plugs directly on a USB port of the computer.

Well, having to choose between eLicenser or iLok is like getting sick and having a choice to have leprosy or plague. In reality it is a non-choice.
