Hey Braj - I certainly understand your attaction to iDrum. I've demoed it a few times over the last three years and have always felt it was a few clicks away from "being there". I've also contacted them every time with my frustrations to no effect. Seems they're content letting it just be a toy.

These were the things that kept me from purchasing it:

- No GM mapping for most of the kits, which is the stupidest thing ever for a drum program. Sure I could remap all the kits myself, but I shouldn't have to. This is a major oversight on their part and shows how much they really don't give a shit about making this a real drum program.

- No transport control via midi keyboard (Start/Stop, Pattern select)

- The drop downs for selecting kits and track samples are terrible - always starts from the top of a hugeass list, not from current location. A scroll bar would be nice as well.

- Would be so much quicker to have tuning, note assign/automap, and output channel right on the track panel instead of buried under the info button.

Yeah I definitely agree, just of everything out there it suits me best, not perfectly but I really like the way you enter notes, and mostly I am using 'real' drums via Studio Drummer and just need a drum machine like this once in a while. I don't want to spend too much on it until I can afford something much more substantial, which may be a long while off, I need a new computer for instance. So this little toy is ok for me. I doubt 2.0 will ever come out but for what it is it works.

The one thing about the info pane is once it is open you can go ahead and select different tracks and make changes, it isn't that bad actually. I am not tuning the drums that much for example.

Yeah - iDrum is so straightforward in a lot of ways which makes their inattention so much more disappointing. I got turned on to it when purchasing some sample sets from Goldbaby (some of his sets had iDrum format, although it appears he's left iDrum behind with his latest offerings), and it was instant fun. Hopefully something's happening with it.

Hi Braj,
I'm surprised you found that GROOVE DRUMS doesn't sync right.
It is used on many different DAW and nobody told me that.

It would be nice if you could give me more details

Like I said, it appears to be working fine now, I don't know what the issue was before, slow CPU, misunderstanding how to use the plugin? I don't know, but I had great fun with it last night and if I didn't have such a tight budget would have likely bought it. I like the built-in sends, I like how you can split 16th notes by horizontal dragging, I live the EQ per drum and global, I don't like the dark interface so much, i wish it had the sort of fluid drag-to-create-a-pattern that iDrum has (my very favorite thing about iDrum). I did have a couple crashes when trying to use the inserts, which forced one reboot  this is all within Reaper.

One thing about Groove Drums demo, i wish you can make the demo notice less annoying, it makes it hard to get into the plugin and feel comfortable before getting 'jerked' by the annoying reminder. A small noise every minute instead would be much more preferable, of strip out some features like multiple outs, the effect sends, something like that, and give a free limited version. I'm sure you would get many new users who would later upgrade to the full version. You would definitely had me with that scenario, I would use your app until I could enable all the functionality.

OK, well I have iDrum, I'm very happy with it :) making a pattern then dragging the file to Trilian to groove-lock the arp pattern works beautifully, the combination of swing and groove functions let you get pretty good grooves in iDrum, and I found great tabla samples for it http://www.petelockett.com/pete%20new%2 ... mming.html

I bought Iridrum skin for it http://www.idrumskins.com/ so it didn't look so ugly, then customized the skin to my liking:

Anyhow for $37? total with the skin it is a great little drum machine, at least until I find the need to use something more powerful, which may not be necessary considering my needs. It is 64 bit compatible so anyhow, I'm set![/img]

Congrats Braj, welcome to the club. You got a nice price on it too :)

One tip: A big thing eating me was that iDrum puts its content on your main drive in your documents folder, with no way to move it. I'm pretty rigid about having all my VST data on another drive, so I contacted iZotope. Their answer was - That's just how we do it.

Well, here's how I do it:
1)Move the whole content folder (iZotope iDrum Content) to another drive, say D:\iZotope iDrum Content.

2)Open Regedit. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\iZoptope\iDrum.

3)In that iDrum folder you should see a key named ContentPath. Right click on it and choose Modify - enter your new location (D:\iZotope iDrum Content).

Done.

BTW, I'm on Win7 64, so this might be a little different on other OS setups. If so, you can always search the registry (F3) for "iDrum" looking for a key (stringvalue) named "contentpath"

Thanks to Braj who helped me to fix bugs and improve the GROOVE DRUMS.

News
• You can use the mouse as a paint tool for creating hits with different velocities.
• Ability to copy the hits of an instrument to another instrument with a drag & drop or a context menu.

Bugs fixed
• Synchronization of external MIDI notes.
• Initialization of equalizers.
• Improvements in CPU resources and the resources used by the edit window.

Hi ImeaDan

It is working pretty nicely with Reaper, I LOVE the drag to draw patterns :) just like iDrum, that is great! But I'm still having some issues with drag and drop for the patterns, for instance if I create a pattern with two bass hits on 1 and 2 (of 16 note pattern) the second hit is transferred to the pattern but not sounded correctly. If I set the swing above 10 and drag the pattern to the DAW, then it appears ok. Also some note lengths are long and some very short. Maybe that is the problem, the bass drum (for instance here) is overlapping so it gets overridden? If I manually shorten the hits in the piano roll then it works fine. If you could fix it so all the hits are short I would think it would resolve the issue.

Anyhow I LOVE the EQ, the sends, and the random features, keep up the good work :)

Oh, one other thing, it would be cool if the randomized versions of the patterns could be dragged and dropped, that would make it really easy to create a bunch of patterns with variation easily and place them in the timeline.

Is there a button to demo the drum sounds? I don't see one. And it doesn't seem like there is a way to change a drum's state from 'edit' back to the default (not a big deal but could confuse someone, it confused me ).

(edited out a couple things that looked to be my computer's performance issue, 'not your bug')
