N3 is a fantastic sequencer for Mac. Very cool, trippy, atmospheric thingy you created.

Are there any poor man's alternatives to Iris?
Windows 11/Linux Manjaro KDE + Waveform 11.

I'm very disappointed that after all this time, they still haven't released an update with independent time stretching and pitch shifting. It's such an obvious feature for an instrument like this, and they are obviously well equipped to provide it. I can understand if it wasn't ready for the initial release, but I would have hoped they would have implemented it by now.

finally someone else who thinks the same way as me, for me this vst missed its chance sadly.....

I totally agree but I gave up hoping. IMO it's pretty safe to say at this point that 'it is what it is' for the forseeable future. There's more money in whacking a few oranges for a sample pack than in implementing new features for a perceived minority of users. Sure, I for one didn't buy it because of this, but it's not like my revenue would have covered development cost.

There's a thread about alternatives:

You could layer and edit samples in Photosounder and then play them in a sampler or do the same in Harmor with an image editor like GIMP.

Functionally Alchemy's spectral module is probably closest. Go to Import Audio, click the spectral button and then delete what you don't want in the spectrum of each voice (the inverse of Iris but otherwise the same).

You don't the the fancy pitch detection nor the smart select tools Iris has, but you get everything that's missing from Iris instead and you even have four voices instead of three. ;)

I am another. You should be able to do these, really.

I'm well aware of the alternatives, but I did buy Iris and would like it to be more useful on its own. As it stands now, I have to preprocess my sounds elsewhere to prepare them for Iris.

i can only encourage to write them directly i did that too and they reply normally fast, so if they see more and more people have interest lets push them!

at the same time this would be the chance for another dev team to bring and copy iris (nearly copy it haha) and enhance it with timestretch etc. etc. and get the crown cause iris is lazy.

they need to marry Iris to a granular engine.. there are just some things that Iris should be able to do.. it's so obvious that all these ideas are just missing. it would make it soooo much more useful for me and just a more interesting synth.. they wouldn't have to go full on granular.. just a few functions for processing.

i've gotten some good sounds out of Iris but it always feels like a limited synth.

i wonder what the source material was though? a before and after would be cool.

biggest prob with iris is no sync.

it's a nice start to a great synth.. it could just be sooo much MOAR! and with only a few additions.

Thanks for the mention Don, really appreciated! Also, here's an audio vid by maestro Nicky Bendix taking us through various presets in Luftrum 10:
