Hey, I just released a new version of my Digits VST. It's based on Casio-style phase distortion, but the goal was to make a rich-sounding plugin with some more modern features that you won't find in, say, a CZ-1000. Right now it's a faceless plugin, but the parameters are organized to allow for fast patch creation. Be sure to check out the presets it comes with!
It's available for Mac (10.5 or up), Windows (built and tested on 7), and as a Linux-native VST (tested on Ubuntu Studio 11.10).
As always, I'm totally open to suggestions and (of course) bug reports.

Sounds great but if the clicks/pops on modifying parameters while playing could be eliminated it would be even greater (Win VST tested in Cantabile 1.2). A GUI would be nice also I guess.

Which parameters in particular? I've smoothed a couple, but I'm taking requests for more. Some of the params need a different approach than others to smoothing, so it's not quite a universal fix.eidenk wrote:Sounds great but if the clicks/pops on modifying parameters while playing could be eliminated it would be even greater (Win VST tested in Cantabile 1.2). I'll check it out yesterday then! I actually had a cz-1000, and that was before I had any real interest in synths, so I found its appeal minimal, I'm sure now it would be a different story(although I prefer the free cost of software now).

Plenty of them actually, I guess you've got to go through all those you haven't optimized yet.LouisG wrote:Which parameters in particular? I've smoothed a couple, but I'm taking requests for more. Avast asked me if I wanted to complete the download and trusted the exe, I chose yes, and now I can't get the download to start again. The Mac one starts, but I'm on a PC.
Oh well, thanks for the idea.

xp sp3 and FLStudio9, load a patch and zilch and if I adjust some settings (LFOPWM being one) loads of others get changed drastically. But still no sound.
Try it on FLStudio10 / Win7 tomorrow.

I've confirmed that it is broken on FLStudio 10 / Win7. It's curious because it looks like it's getting note-ons, processing, the values are sane, but I'm just not hearing anything. I'm seeing that control bug in Ableton Live for Mac though, so I can check that out easily. Thanks for the report!bob bobwood wrote:xp sp3 and FLStudio9, load a patch and zilch and if I adjust some settings (LFOPWM being one) loads of others get changed drastically. But still no sound.

I got it now, sounds pretty good like some phase modulation. Too bad it doesn't have any presets?

It does actually come with 15 or so presets, but they are saved as separate FXPs. Check the start menu (extent of the jam -> digits) if you're on Windows. That'll take you to a directory that contains the presets.RunBeerRun wrote:I got it now, sounds pretty good like some phase modulation. Too bad it doesn't have any presets?

Cool, thanks for the info on the presets. I've installed it in Sandboxie, I don't use installers, but they should be there.

I've fixed it in FL Studio 10. It's a simple fix, but I want to get a few more in before I bump the version number. There *is* a workaround: Go to the gear wheel in the plugin editor window (in the toolbar), to go Processing, and select Process Inactive Inputs and Outputs. That'll get it to work for now.

Just bumping this topic to let you guys know 1.2 is up on the site. I'd highly recommend upgrading because I fixed a bug which caused the plugin to use an excessive amount of memory. It also now works in FruityLoops 10 off the bat, and has 44 presets.
