I can only understand that this reference to the skin.

The creator of the skin is probably worried that Access would not like the idea that somebody "copies" their GUI. And therefore made a point about saying that it is a homage rather than a rip off

I just downloaded it and it's fine. It's just a RAR file with no executable content.

I got a popup-blocked notice so maybe it's the hosting site. Maybe tweaking your security &/or ad-blocking settings would help.

Long story short:

I made up a couple of skins for my 'Virus Mod' of Z3ta+. I used stuff that was readily available. I didn't do anything that anyone hadn't done before. I didn't do anything that isn't still up somewhere, except for my own work. Everything I borrowed is still up. I gave full accreditation. I robbed it black and blue and put in a good dose of my own work too..

I didn't have to apologize to access. They were pretty good about it as it goes.
I remember Teksonik and Kriminal going most haywire about it. We are good friends now...

The stuff I ripped it still up. I won't tell you where to get it, but it is advertised on KVR and it is by well respected people.

It's a bit of a gray area. But not really. 'Homage' does not cut it, if you are using the access logo you are in clear breach of their copyright. In fact there is no gray area. Making money got nothing to do with it.

But there are a few skins using that logo at certain sites and no one is too bothered about it. It's a gray area.

If anyone loves the z3ta+ synth and wants clarification on the matter, I shall be only too happy enough to send them sample files to explain what I mean, and once they get the drift, I will expect them to delete all said files.

It's not really that naughty and that much of a big deal, there are alternative skins out there, but not publicly available, but nobody minds if you share privately. That's not like sharing files privately. Can you be bothered? You would have to take me on trust that my z3ta+ skins are the best thing since sliced bread and then pm me to dl them, then install them.

How many people going to do that? Then again, if you saw the skins I did, you would be more than happy. Even though I ripped half of them off and gave full credits.

This was only ever a scene thing, that crossed over, ever so slightly and offended a few higher than thou people and pleased the people that made the software unt hardware even more.

Can someone talk in layman terms and make me understand what this does exactly ?

1. Does it replace z3ta+ patches with new ones ?

2.I wouldn't want to lose the old patches but some new ones would be welcome !

3.It's called a mod. So does it alter my copy of z3ta+ in a permanent way (for better or for worse) ?

Would someone kindly clear my doubts on this. I'm a noob and kinda unfamiliar to the term wavetables. Thanks in advance !

All I know is that it DOESN'T replace or overwrite patches, but it adds new VIRUS wave forms and presets.

I thought there was a special Virus MOD GUI, that's why it is called MOD.

I remember that I've read this thread, but there was also a thread about Virus MOD for Z3ta+ 2. I'm using Z3ta+ 2.1.1, there were some bugs in 2.0, but 2.1 is great, and I can only recommend it.

You're right, it seems to work now. Before it would just give me an empty window with a download link to a sketchy .exe that set my antimalware program off. Probably a rouge ad.s

Will be hard to purchase z3ta 1 now, maybe you want to wait on a sale for z3ta 2? Cakewalk often have discounts, just gotta check their website frequently. I was able to get z3ta 2 upgrade from z3ta for lousy 20 €. Pretty sure you'll be able to grab it for 49 € or so.
