Just posting a video tutorial about the masks of our Le Masque Delay V 1.5 unit.

Why ? Because some of these Masks Techniques will be soon implemented into Oxium, and be part of the next major update. So it can be also a kind of preview for all Oxium users

Apologies for my ignorance here Lotuzia but..

..went through the presets in Oxium over the weekend and was a bit surprised that they all seemed to be NOT sensitive to midi velocity - so playing louder on the keyboard - or changing the velocity in the DAWs piano roll - made no difference to the sound level.

Then I found one or two presets that did respond to midi velocity - and eventually worked out that these had velocity modulation applied to the VCA Level, in the modulation section

Is this because you are emulating vintage synth behaviour - and it had to be set manually?

Maybe an idea to make velocity/ VCA level 100% on as standard? - with an option to turn it off (or adjust the percentage) if you are playing a harpsichord type preset

Otherwise I will have to re save all my favourite factory presets and add the velocity/ VCA modulation to each

Apart from that, getting some nice sounds out of it - but as a keyboard player I like to play with a velocity sensitive keyboard..

..notice it uses aftertouch - looks like you have to modulate that too?

I assigned all my velocity settings to the ones I did.
There's the two velocity assign knobs, plus those you can assign to the mod matrix section.
Sometimes it can be tricky with velocity, as if there's too much velocity made to change the output levels, it can end up peaking a lot when not using a limiter.
Certain sounds also don't go well with velocity controlling output.
Like those vintage basses and such.

No need to apologize, I'm here to help, if I can.

Well there are a lot more presets that are velocity sensitive, including some of McNoone, and as for the others one yes they do mimic the behaviour of vintage stuff, so no velocity. Sometimes you'll find also velocity assigned to other stuff than the VCA. Sometimes to both ( actually you can assign up to 8 parameters to velocity, and I've made some patches whit 3/4 parameters tied to it )

So a standard on/off velocity would not work because in Oxium you have that amount knob, wich determine how much velocity will control VCA, or other things. In other terms you can choose that your sound will be VERY responsive to velocity volume wise, or less. This is important for all keyboardist who might not have "steel fingers" ( as we say in French) or who have different keyboards controlers, weighted, or not. Well this is also important in some playing techniques where you want the response of the keyboard to be with an average difference between keystrokes.

So that : To add velocity to a patch in Oxium the simplest way is to go straight to the modulation tab, then to one of the two VELOCITY knobs located at the bottom left of the tab, then choose Misc-> VCA Level as target and to turn the knob full to the right.

What if the two velocity prewired slots are akready populated ? Nothing s lost at this point, just choose one empty slot of the freely assignable slot pairs at the right, then for source choose velocity as Source, VCA Level as target, and dont forget to turn the amount knob full right.

What if all the velocity hardwired slots and all freely assignable slots are used ? ( like in many of Simon's patches for example ) then you'll have to make a sacrifice and change one of the free slots for the Vel/VCA connection.

And yes Oxium uses polyphonic LFOs AND polyphonic Aftertouch, and I think almost all patches use Aftertouch, and also Mod Wheel, so if you use any of these two controlers, something should happen. Sometimes subtle, sometimes huge.

Also to get a quick view of a patch, you can chack the INFO page : In this page you can see all the modulations of the VCA ( Gain ), all the modulations of the VCO ( Pitch ), and all the modulations of the Filter engines. Its very usefull to see in a flash what modulate what in a patch, and its also a great thing for those who like to reverse engineer patches.

And lastly its very easy to resave your patches, here's a quick how to so that you'll still have max. confort after resaving them

1/ Create your own bank ( this way you can export all your custom patches in a single click ) ( see my video tutorial about Oxium patch management for example )
2/ Always save in that bank and add a "v" ( for velocity) to the patch name, while using the "save as" function.

This way your custom patches will still have their tags, and you'll still be able to perform multi criterias searches and select criterias like instruments categories, musical genres, Feeling/mood, Sound Designer, projects, etc etc so it will still be very easy to find the right patch in seconds.

Not sure I have "fingers of steel" but I do play the piano so I am a used to a good velocity response which I can now get with some tweaking. But you are right, some patches don't suit a full or any velocity response.

Looking forward to the update on the masque - that's next on the list to learn

A few examples of patches using V1.5 new features.

ARP Trippy III

In this example, the Mixer 2 Global level is automated by the Aux envelope 3, while this envelope is itself automated via the Masks.

BA Alternate Octaves

In this example, the third LFO is controling both the levels of Oscillator 1 and 2 in the first mixer, with opposite amounts of modulations.

FX Space Prayer GE

Nothing special in this patch, that uses extensively Oxium's Double Filter Structure and plenty of LFO mods. Its one of the new patches of Oxium 1.5 factory library, designed by our new SD Green Echoes, and I just wanted to share this one with you. Mod Wheel action is just amazing ( When it screams )

Yes the Group Buy was launched, and one user started a thread in the KVR Market Place for it

When Step 2 is completed, everybody will get the Jupiter 8 soundbank for free. Including owners of version 1.0

When step 4 is completed everybody will get the ICE skin for free, and we'll comission our graphic artist to finalize it.

Regarding PandemOxium : a lot of Oxium users have already bought it, so it would not be fair to offer it for free to all other 1.1 users : That would mean betray my users.

The aim of this GB was to be FAIR to everybody, new Oxium users, as well as veterans. This was very important for us.

Then after this GB the "Ib Jupiter 8" and "Modern Jupiter" Soundbanks will be released as ordinary soundbanks. They will never be available again in a bundle like Oxium Reloaded.
