Btw Synthdemo has other demos for some other synths on his YT channel, including one for the PolyKB II.
Nice video indeed. Anyway did you notice that at the beginning of the video Oxium is called "Oxiom"...

Hi Ingo,

Erf no

Was only listening to the music. Great track.

He made another one on his YouTue channel for the PolyKB II, and the drums are made with the PKB also. Very good.

pdxindy wrote:Is there a way to add some randomization to a parameter with each note on?
Not strictly speaking, though the Drift and Vintage buttons will do this, the drift for the oscillators detune, and the Vintage for an aggregat of parameters we defined.

Well you can do one of the following :

1/ Assign one of the three LFOs to whatever you want to add random to, and choose the S&H waveform ( Or the S+H + a smooth WF like sine, as you can cumulate waveforms ), then set the LFO to reset on note on. Then control eventually the LFO level with velocity ( wich send data on note on ) You can after that also control the LFO level with the auxilliary envelope for example, so that its action is very short and you'll have an apporx of random.

2/ Use noise as a modulator, and shape it with aux enveloppe with max attack and short decay no sustain.

3/ Use the spread modulation button, wich adds more or less chaos to all modulations pairs in the matrix mod, and in this matrix use the aux envelope to control things.

Actually it depends if you ant the random function to be active during the decay and sustain stage for example, or during all the time the voice play, or if you want just the random to be active during a very brief moment when a note is triggered, the solutions I gave cover the second case. It the random can be active during all the time a voice is active then its much simpler, and you can adapt the tips very easily.

Dont know however if it really answers your question.

Thanks for the reply...

I meant some random variation at note on, but not changing during the note... so for example, when applied to cutoff, each note has a slightly different initial cutoff value but not modulation of the cutoff during the note...

Oj then its much easier for me to answer, and here's the solution : Random offset occuring during all note duration

Just assign LFO3 as mod source with S+H Waveform AND VERY slow rate AND note retrigger , set ammount to taste.

Bass and lead : Oxium

Just a few new things about Oxium short, but already rich, life :

1/ First review of Oxium here on OD ( Oh Drat ) site ( I did not know this site before )

Just a few words from the conclusion : " Over the course of testing Oxium has actually become a bit of a favourite polysynth at OD, but for all my bleating about its power in creating these big sounds don't underestimate its power for mono sounds - basses, leads and so on all have big potential. The short version of our Xils Lab Oxium Review: Recommended. "

2/ The sluggish GUI problems occuring in certain systems combining Live/Windows7 64 under certain circonstances have -hopefully- been fixed. Same for Mutools. Available in the next update.

3/ I've made some Masque templates, wich will also be available in the next update : No masks, 8th, Triplets decrescendo, Syncopated 8th, 16th A; Divergence 8th, Combined triplets, StepSequencer A; StepSequencer B, Superposition.

This should save time for people wanting to experiment with Le Masque, and give them some valid starting points. Just assign Le Masque to the cut off in the mod matrix, and see what happens to get an idea of what these Masque presets do. I'll also make a Masque dedicated Tutorial asap. ( Currently I'm just working on an Quick Overview video )

Then the intro price ( 69€) period will soon be over.

agreed on the IVF, you can change sounds in a jiffy and make a bass into a pad in seconds, not even used the le masque yet because Im having so much fun with the other normal synth capabilities I probably would have bought it just as without le masque because I am fascinated by the the OSC's and Filters alone, if there ever was a virtual synth that I was looking for this is it because of the quality of detail in the sound. I have used Diva demo and know how good it is, but this one just gets my vote on character over Diva, very unique and only a a serial number. What gets me is I havent seen anyone pirate this yet!!!, they say they only crack things because of the unruly copy protection blah, blah, and all the other shit going around but perhaps there is some truth to this after all. Thanks Lotuzia, I love playing this instrument, reminds me of my old Kstation for some reason which got stolen, and this really fills the gap that was left after my samplers and synths got nicked, Ive been looking as I said for a virtual synth that could take the place of the previous hardware synths I owned, and this is definitely it.
PS_ As I said, everyone is different so other people might not be as satisfied as i was, but the bottom line is I found what I was looking for, Have you??(+reasons if you can be arsed to answer and explain.)

Thanks a lot Trackstar :)

Le Masque extends Oxium's "sea of possibilities". You can use it for very subtle modulations, and for more drastic and never heard things, but ... you're not obliged to use it, and certainly not obliged to use it in the first weels or months of use, then if one day you feel to experiment with it : Its there :)

Oxium was designed to be also very fast and intuitive to operate, and it can offer on a single panel a very sophisticated VA synthesizer. Opening alternative panels to get more possibilities is a "one click away" choice that people can take when they want.
