I'm basically just using the MAGIX downloader to download the files and run the installer. Installation ends fine on its own (although there was a hurdle with it at one point, but Andreas sent me some files I was missing and that was solved). The problem is that when I click the Activate Independence Pro button, nothing happens. I should get a popup to enter the serial number, no? Well, it doesn't show up.

I found a log file which mentioned that Protein was unable to authorize, like this:

Code: Select all

Independence Version 3.1.0.69
12:30:01:728 (error) protein activate failed with code: -45
12:30:16:653 (error) protein activate failed with code: -45
12:30:16:654 (error) authorization was canceled

After that I got the whole new Protein folder from Andreas, but the situation persisted.

Just remind Andreas about Ticket#: 2012100910013866.

Thanks. I will first attempt to do an install on my Laptop and do a screen recording of the process. What OS are you using? I can't say I've ever seen that error before.

OK I'm on Windows 8 but that shouldn't affect the installation, I have a horrible feeling this could be a computer specific problem. Anyway I'm about to begin the install on my Samsung laptop so I'll get back to you later.

Hmm download speed sucks right now.I guess as it's Sunday the world and his wife must be online. Did you download Indy Pro software first and then try and authorize or did you do the complete download/install including samples in one hit?

The whole download is about 2 GB - I was downloading that as a whole. And yeah the speed sucked every time I was downloading too. Around 75-100 KB/s. And I can pull up to 1.4 MB/s.

I'm getting a fluctuating 430KB/s right now and I have 2MB/s connection. I think it could a few hours before its all ready to install.

Well I finished the install and the registration window popped up and I registered it without a problem. No Protein errors no nothing. So I've no idea why it isn't working for you.

Where to go from here I'm not quite sure. After the initial slow download of the Indy software the download of the samples really flew. I hate to say it but maybe you should try just one more time as it's possible they have fixed the installer since December.

I'll try it one more time, then... I can't say I'm optimistic about it, though.

There we go. Downloaded it once again, installed it alright, and still the same problem. I click on "Activate", nothing happens!

I will gladly allow MAGIX to assume control of my computer via TeamViewer if that's going to help solve this issue. Otherwise, I might as well sell this thing.

Post

That's a complete bummer :( As you can see it's working perfectly fine on my computer. Did you get any protein errors this time? The only thing I can think is that maybe you have some kind of pop-up blocker or antivirus rule issue which is blocking the registration window. I'm not sure what MAGIX could do even if they could remote view your computer. Have you tried it on any other computers? Anyway I will fire-off an email to Andreas explaining what's going on.

Yes, the same problem is logged.

My antivirus is NOD32, and I disabled it for the sake of activation, no difference. Browser plugins and popup blockers have no relation to other applications running on your system apart from the browser itself.

Didn't yet try it on another computer, I'm waiting for the graphics card for my desktop to arrive. :)

Post

OK - well I sent off an email to Andreas explaining your predicament so hopefully I will hear back from him soon. I think it would make sense to try the installation on another computer when your graphics card arrives to rule out the possibility of it being a computer specific problem.
