Any suggestions for how to best utilize Ambitron?

I find it is good for making fx sounds, but struggling to get decent pads out of it...

its not for pads. its for evolving drones and soundscapes. for more pad type sounds use psygen instead. its fantastic...as are all of m-rgt's stuff.

That will be difficult due to the nature of Ambitron. It relies on morphing the granular samples in an ever changing manner especially with the "clash mode," function. psyGEN is better at pads sounds of which there are several in the patch banks.

I bought Ambitron thinking it would sound like PsyGEN  So during the sale you had before x-mas, I also had to buy PsyGEN :D

I use Ambitron now mostly to listen to like I would with a record, it's nice to leave on in the background, and just let the sounds evolve.

I'm getting a 404 page not found error when I try to access the devs webpage at http://www.m-rgt.com/

Hope it's just me :help:

Nope, not just you. There's a bigger problem:

Once it was announced "it wouldn't be worth it to make it 64b" on their forum, I reluctantly uninstalled the demos and have been looking for Reaktor Ensembles that might replace it.

ArcWave & WaveChaserXT from EverythingTurns possibly?

I really do hope that it is just a temporary hibernation, although 2-3 weeks now is a long time.

PsyGen is among the coolest and mind boggling plugs I own.

Those are interesting, but I find them a lot more difficult to use.

The nice thing with PsyGen is that, for me, the input slots/track sequencer is logically laid out, easier to understand how to build.

what happens if nobody hears for months and I have no original installer are people just screwed then? Is it considered illegal for somebody to send original installer if I have legit serial #'s for psybox and psygen?

some of these questions could be answered if the developer had published a standalone manual, instead of an online manual on a now defunct website :(

unfortunately, under the user license agreement you are not able to distribute the program

Post

On the other hand under the user license agreement, apart from stuff you're unable to do, does it mention what you're legally entitled to? That as a registered user with legit serial for instance you're entitled to continuous support over years of the very software for which you paid (like have access to redownload in case of need)?

Nope? Thought so.

I've bought M-RGT's stuff because I'm naturally attracted to any ambient/atmo/experimental-oriented plugs and this filled the bill very nicely, was indeed very cool stuff. But now as any other users I feel basically just screwed (in terms of future support), without any alternatives or appeals...
I think it just isn't fair to the customers to even start a selling company if you don't have yourself a strong warranty (or have taken measures to ensure) that it can go on even if you don't at some point. (That or be upfront about it and annouce right away to any potential customer that the support they get is not guaranted to last forever).

No offense to Boris himself who is very talented (I whish him the best and hope nothing bad befell him) and his fellows but this situation just conforted me in my resolution never to buy anymore from anything but strong well-known companies. Once you sell software to someone you have a responsability, just as they have with the user license -- it should go both ways, right?

Still, too bad, as M-RGT's software sure is worth it.

(PS. Incidentally jbe, you're mistaken: there in fact was a published manual for Ambitron, check the WBMachine link. The manual was downloadable at : http://m-rgt.com/manual/Amb_UserGuide.rar -- isn't anymore though obviously)
