Sorry Monas.

You would figure with all this fuss that Avantgardesound
would be motivated to jump in and comment with on the status
Of their firm.

Hello, Avantgardesound please comment. Send us a sign that
you are alive and well. Well enough at least to soon release
Version 2 of enChord.

Post

I own version 1, and I'm happy with it. It's a great resource.
However, when enchord was first released, apps such as Chordion, seline and chordpolypad did not exist.
They did appear a short while after, and were a third of the price.

In fairness, enchord is pretty deep, but the above apps are much easier to use, cheap, look great, and most importantly, are already out.
I remember watching the introduction video for enchord, and the dev was saying how others would copy him, and he would in turn sue them... Well, maybe I didn't work out that way.
Maybe he saw a train load of similar apps being released in quick succession, that all did what enchord did, and for very little money.

Maybe the dev doesn't see this as the money maker he thought it might be, and just gave up?

Either way, I'm happy with the current version, and I do still use it from time to time.
And I too would still be interested in a standalone version. As long as the price is the same as comparable apps.

You have to have something pretty special to charge $30 for an ipad app...

Yes, the buy now button is working but with seemingly no support to contact if no download links are forthcoming.....?

Shame, it looks a fantastic resource to have on an iPad but until word comes from developers it's best not to follow that buy now button, will keep an eye out for it though that's for sure.

A word from the developers here would be encouraging to what I'm sure would be a potentially large user base.

I was waiting to buy the enChord Version 2. Now I am considering buying the first version but will not until I hear from the developer that he is alive and doing well.

Monas said "This is not an App but a Lemur template." What does this actually mean?

Post

Lemur is in itself a very well known multi faceted midi controller, extremely flexible, you design your own bespoke controller template maybe based on a template thats already included for your daw or vsti collection or start from scratch. All this is done using an iPad (at the moment)

These design and layouts are known as templates that you load into Lemur.

So In purchasing enChord, you have to already own, or be prepared to shell out for the lemur package as well (which double the cost as your buying two apps.

Hope that helps, maybe hopefully who ever is in charge of this will release a stand alone version for iPad or android, that would be great but something strange is going on, maybe this app has Ben bought out by a bigger player, maybe lemur themselves, it is, after all, a premium addition to their download store...?

I visited http://www.jazzmutant.com/lemur_overview.php
So for the enChord to work I need to buy the Lemur 12" monitor which is called Jazzmutant. :?:

Do I have that right?

Why am I buying two apps? :-o :o

"All this is done using an iPad (at the moment)" Lost me here.

Sorry for the Really dumb questions.

enChord is a template (.jzml file) which is read by Lemur - the app you have to purchase for your iPad and then install the additional software (editor and server) on your main system.

If you already own Lemur ($49.99) then you only need to buy enChord ($29.99)

Lemur may be used for many other things, including building your own systems with the editor, which can be controlled by the iPad app - there are also many other templates available that enable you to control other applications, so it's worth the investment of time and resources.

Hope this helps.

A cheap but comprehensive keyboard progression resource is piano companion, there's a free lite version and the full version is only 2.99. It allows you to build keyboard progressions from a bewildering set of scales, put sequences together in all sorts of time signaturse as chords or arps and then export the midi file to a daw.

Not a very glamorous GUI but ever so functional, can't fault it for the price.

I just can't seem to wrap my head around this Lemur stuff. I have an easier time understanding quantum mechanics. Ok, you're going to say "if you think you understand quantum mechanics you do not understand quantum mechanics". I concede. Point well made.

Let me see if I got this right:
Lemur http://liine.net/en/products/lemur/ is a midi controller app for iPad. Correct?

The midi from the iPad is then connected to my Windows 7 64 bit computer. Yes I will need adaptors and an iPad app that connects the midi.

Lemur has several included templates I can use. Some or all are midi controller apps. Yes?

I can also get the enChord and run it inside Lemur.

Are there other templates for Lemur that are midi controllers or are interesting in other ways? Is there a list of free or to pay apps specifically for the Lemur?

I bet I got most of this wrong!

Thanks for the help. :)

Yes, here,,,

All user created, all free.

And you don't need wires or cables connecting your computer. You can use wifi.

Thanks for the link to the free Lemur templates.

Are there any templates included in the purchase of Lemur? I did not see any.

Besides enChord are there other Lemur third party music apps that one can purchase. How does one find them?

I mentioned a wired midi connection from the iPad to the computer as it is more robust and faster than the wifi. Is this so?

Hi all, just to let you know that nChord v3 - HeartEater has been just released.

Now with v3, you can control nChord with a 3rd party MIDI device, which turns it effectively into a realtime harmonic translator, among other very cool improvements.

I opened a thread about the release here:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=421016

It has upgrade info and new feature details.

Same (and better) info can be found at the website>
http://www.avantgardesound.com

There were some complaints about the website because of the cross-browser issues. It should be working fine now. I removed the in-page bookmarks altogether to help Safari users.

IMPORTANT: I don't do forums very much, but rest assured I don't have a single support or sales or information request emails that have not been answered.

Talk to me! Thank you!

Cheers,
