I dont have full products and with demos i think i dont get yet any problems but i tested this stuff only very quickly. But now i test for you.I get cpu spikes with Logic 9.1.5 and OS 10.7.5. and processor is i5 2.5ghz and 8gigabytes of memory. Machine is mac mini middle 2011. btw i get cpu spikes with some other plugins sometimes even Logic own.
Right.. now you will probably see crashes when flicking through patches especially if you change banks when doing it..
this affects only if ENGINE multiprocessor is turned on on mac.

Spikes are bad and all engine mac users are suffering from them.

It's kind of like play, where the sampler is bad (for stability and cpu usage on MAC, no other reason)

but the sounds are fantastic.

Still, since it is "usable" with some workarounds, and best service are good people and committed to engine very much, i think it's a safe investment.

Plus, unlike other sample libraries, if the problems never fix, they allow to transfer for a small fee (25 euro i think, not too bad comparing to product prices)

Cheers!

Theo

I'm on Windows (Win7 64-bit) and was looking at both Desert Winds and Forest Kingdom, to compliment Alchemy. Minor rare/random glitches in realtime playback will be annoying but as long as a final non-realtime render from my host (Tracktion 4) is clean, I'll deal with it to get the sounds I want.

I didn't know about the free versions, just looked 'em up - going to get them today and try it out tonight - thanks for mentioning it! :D

and don't forget try-sound.com either woolyoach

that's how i tested the sounds before i chose the libraries i wanted.

but yes you need the real but limited demos to see how engine itself works on your system

Oh, the try sound gives you ALL the presets, the entire instrument to audition. It's slow, but it does work!

This can happen on PC as well. Happened to me more than once.

Engine is unfortunately still ways till it catches up with stability and performance of others.

Hi EvilDragon did you try and see if the multiprocessor trick stops the pc crashing as well?

would be great to send best service a tech report about it to back up my claims kind of thing.

I am dealing with Martin there.. great guy

The only problem I have is with the reverb.

It pops and crackles REALLY badly.
But I usually prefer my own reverbs anyway, so I just turn it off.

But I've never had it pop, click, stutter, freeze, spike or crash on me yet.

So at least it can be said that the bugs are not universal.

I'm on a Win7 x64 PC using Brainspawn forte as a host, FWIW.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Akai VIP = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

The Origami impulse? How ironic, as that works just fine on my mac and sounds great.

i got TONS of presets for it when i installed titan, and they are very useful

Question, independence free is now replaced by engine right ?

Do we have still the possibility to use a version of FX instance of independence free ?

...or is it my only fantasy that make me think it had once upon the time, exist ?

 :?: :idiot: :drunk:

Post

I can answer yes to first question but don't know answer to second.

Post

There's still an FX version of Independence. Not sure about Free, but Pro, yes.

No, Yellow Tools got taken over by Magix, so the Independence sampler, and the Independence Free version is still alive:
