About your old presets, "all" the problems remain in the level modulation (especially in polyphonic mode).
_ for low level patches : increase the global velocity amount (at the right of the keyboard) and eventually reduce each amount of the velocity when connected to other modules like filters
_ for clipping patches : reduce the global level, and reduce the amount of the velocity (if used) inside the matrix.

The XILS 3 v2.0 is a new big step, so we decide to go ahead, fixing all the problems, making all the modulation as strong as possible, even if the compatibility is not kept 100%.
That's also why we changed the name : for those who need the exact same sound, they can always use the 1.5.4 version.

I thought I'd read something about a tick box option for opening older presets which would update certain parameters. I must have imagined it!

I'll just add to what Xavier said :

The Xils 3 V2.0, as you will soon find out, is capable of very wild modulations, especially with the Joystick/Vector modulations, but also with all other possible modulations nested in every matrix of some patches. Therefore I had to take a certain modulation margin when rewriting some of the old presets. Thats why some presets sound a bit quiet. Also, som presets can be played monophonic, and polyphonic. There again, a lead that is normally more/less intended to be played intented to be played in a monophonic, BUT can also be played in a polyphonic way, I had to take a dynamic margin too, especially for people who dont have a very solid kb playing, and could have played some note clusters by accident, even if they intended to play a mono lead. Also balancing the output level over the entire KB range can sometimes lead into problems, as a preset might sound much louder on a certain kb range, even if it is not really intended to be played in that range. and above all that, I also had to take very serious care to avoid to betray as much as possible the original decisions taken by sound designers who wrote patches for the version 1, and to remain faithfull to the *spirit* of their patches. Well as you can see, this was not taht easy;

SOoo all in all I had to take decisions based on a kind of 'balance' between how the preset should be played most of times, but also trying to prevent accidents. If some presets are really not playing like they should however, just give me the names, and I'll fix these asap.

We're continuously adding ressources for Xils-lab synths : Presets, videos, revamped manuals, etc etc.

Here's a tutorial : How to use the Xils 3 V2.0 as a POWERFULL VST effect processor. This possibility is not very well known. But it can save you the purchase of *another*, or your first, filter Vst effets, or, at least, add a valuable resonnant filter with its specific color to your existing VST arsenal. And you can do the same with the Xils 3 LE, minus the additional input modules added in the Xils 3 ( EV follower, Transient etc etc ) !

no probs, its not nagging, given that it would not be fair that we publish the first Xils 4 shortissimo video, without in the same time beeing able to give at least some more details.

SOooo as you can see in the video, the final UI and GUI of the Xils 4 are nearly finished, maybe completely finished if we dont discover some things to change in the near future.

Then the Xils 4 makes sound, and already has a lot of presets, its own dedicated presets. I choose two presets at random to make a little sound for the video, but my first idea was to make it without sound. ( Those who can listen with good headphones will perhaps hear that the concept of stereo basses, or dual basses/Leads will take another dimension with the Xils 4 )

If you're not familiar with Xils-lab announcements, well, lets just say that Xils-Lab has never been on the vaporware side, and that usually, the musical instruments are released shortly after they have been announced. Atm we're trying to build a RC version.

So expect more news rather soon.

Actually owning Xils 3 full version is enough to be eligible for the Xils 3 ---> Xils 4 upgrade grace period Stephen.

And its not yet available on the site. The Upgrade path should be opened at the beginning of May, maybe a bit before but not sure, and the release of the Xils 4 will follow shortly after.

As soon as its opened all Xils 3 owners, including those that dont have Xilistics, will be able to upgrade for 29€ during the grace period ( 1 month ). People who have purchased Xils 3 v1.5 since jan 1st 2014, or purchase v2.0 now will have a permanent upgrade 29€ upgrade path for at least one year.

Knowing what the Xils 4 will offer, I'd say that the upgrade price is almost .... ridiculous
