Thanks for asking.

The Xils 3 V 2.0 upgrade is FREE for ALL XIls 3 users :)

Just DL the installer and run it. ( its not in your coupon codes, no need to even login to your account, its the regular installer found in this page

However : the upgrade for the forthcoming XILS 4 synthesizer wont be free. If you have purchased your Xils 3 before 2014, you will benefit from a Grace Period, allowing you to upgrade to the Xils 4 for only 29€ ( A real steal imho )
Now I get it. Thank you.

(a) I have XILS 3 Version 1 (1.5.4).
(b) Just installed XILS 3 Version 2 (3.2).

(c) Since I purchased XILS 3 before 2014 I will benefit from a Grace Period, allowing me to upgrade to the Xils 4 for only 29€

(d) Thank you :)
:D

Any other link available?

Hi Liquidsound

Here are the links for the different Xils 3 V2.0 versions ( Means you already have the Xils 3, or just puirchased it thru our celebration discount sales ) :

Windows PC Xp/Vista/7/8 ELicencer

Windows PC Xp/Vista/7/8 Ilok 1/2

MAc OSX Elicencer

Mac OSX Ilok 1/2

And here are the links for the DEMO versions of the Xils 3 ( No dongle required ) :

Xils 3 Demo version Windows

Xils 3 Demo version Mac

I just check them all, and they work here. Hope it will fix your problem. Just let me know if you need some other links.

of course
Yes atm the Xils 3 requires a dongle, Elicencer or Ilok 1/2.

Xils 3 LE however is only serial protected. The demo version of the Xils 3 doesnt require a dongle either. So you can simply test it like any other synthesizer.

Now a bit of music. This little track is based on one of the sequences in the Fatory Library. Everything else is Xils 3. You can hear the sequence almost in isolation at the beginning. I could play this sequence during 10 mn. Such a beautiful groove inside. I'll post some polyphonic sequences asap ( Yes the sequencer is polyphonic ) Nori made some incredible ones for the new factory content.

A Xils 3 sequence. Naked/Dressed

Does 2.0 make any changes to the XILS 3 Oscillators, Envelopes and Filters? What about 4.0?

thanks for the answer. I have XILS LE and love it, was hoping to upgrade, but a dongle is a deal breaker for me. :(

though it was not perhaps the most musical feature in itself around these experimental instrument of early seventies but did you consider to emulate the original random generator create by Ems as an external controller ?

I remember that it could externally slave the AKS synthi model for instance ( ...it all reminds me the late autumn 1972 !) while it could create an very progressive pallette of pitch and tempi irregularities (rubato,etc...) before complete randomisation

My two cents, (...because i never saw anything similar by now )

Hi Electro,

The Sine oscillator has now waveshaping, like the other waveforms, and therefore has been slightly modified.

You can see pictures on Xils site comparing oscillators waveforms of the Synthi and of the Xils 3. Oscillators are a part of the specific sound of the original series. As a consequence, sound of the Xils 3 itself. It gives a warm but rich sound. Then with waveshaping, and as oscillators can modulate anything, from the filter to themselves, possibilies become quite huge.

Filters : The 3 pole and 4 pole filters benfit from the 4th generation ( already  ) of Xils-Lab ODF filters, wich means that non linear behaviour has been carefully modelled with the greatest accuracy. Especially the 18db filter benefits for this.

Enveloppes : Remain what they were ( there were already very faithfull regarding curves and times to the original ones ) A good opportunity to remind that Trapezoidal envelope of that time had already looping abilities !!!!!. This is very interesting and you can develop special keyboard playing techniques based on this feature. For each of the 3 envelopes, you can however switch to a more tradional ADSR mode if you prefer. ( By clicking on the envelope label )

As for the 4.0, You probably refer to the Xils 4. It's another synth, not yet released. We'll have the opportunity to discuss this more when it will be released.

Hi Krakatau,

The video is quite a journey thru sound :o :tu:

Cant this be done, at least in a partial way, with the Sample & Hold module ?

You can trigg the S&H module with almost anything ( Lfo, oscillators, etc ) and it can have as many output as desired if assigned as a source in the extended matrix. So if you vary the sources and the intensity of each S*H node in the matrix, feeding OSC tune or else, I think you can get *similar* results. This is a trick that I often use, setting the vector controller to control Lfo or S&H rate down to zero to get a kind of "freezed" point of modulation if you ee what I mean.

Yes this module, as well as many other EMS stuff would deserve a full emulation. Maybe someday in the future ? Thanks for the links, infos, and the experimental journey :)

Sorry to hear that Michael, but I understand. Some Xils units are not dongled :

All the effect line : Delays, Filters, Rythmic effects, Chorux, Leslie

And our flagship Oxium synthesizer. also the Xils 3 LE and the PolyKB player.
