Well now you bring it up again 'granular' isn't perfectly accurate, but I don't know a name for Cycle's synthesis technique.Neon Breath wrote: Can you post some granular synthesis and grain cloud sounds?

It'd just be an option during installing (portable install).
I'd like to see this feature too. I was one of the people talking to Urs about implementing it back before they did, and now all their plugins are that way.DavenH wrote:Many users have multiple plugin directories, especially those with both 32 and 64 bit hosts.
Suppose you have the 32bit vst in plugin directory A, 64 bit in directory B, or some combination of those. The presets can't go in both directories (or you could and your revisions and additions would be unsynchronized and confusing), and there's more content than presets (mesh files) that needs must go somewhere too
I do get that it's nice to encapsulate everything about a plugin in one place, but that's not possible here without restricting flexibility.
My primary drive is a rather small SDD so I don't store much of anything in my "Documents" folder, it mostly goes onto my external or secondary hard drive.

I like the way U-He does it. The Plugin requires a folder or a link to a folder named e.g. zebra.data. That way you can move it where you want or leave it in the install directory if for some reason you must.
As for 'My Documents' being on a smaller drive. Why don't you just reassign it elsewhere? (right click -> properties -> location). It's a library folder so there's no point in having it somewhere you don't want it.

Because some unruly programs like to dump random crap in the documents folder and I like to keep my other drives organized. Still, I could move it, thanks for the idea.wasi wrote:I like the way U-He does it. The Plugin requires a folder or a link to a folder named e.g. zebra.data. Anyway, I'm going to go demo this now that there's actually a demo out.

just became aware of this in Computer Music 196. 1/2 an hour ago.
Downloaded the demo, it crashed once, unsure why. It looks cool as hell.
hit 'buy' but the checkout page is 'under maintenance'

It's far from perfectly stable right now, but it's so unique that it's worth putting up with the crashes IMO.werp wrote:just became aware of this in Computer Music 196. 1/2 an hour ago.

E.g. I have to run it at 44.1kHz for now or it crashes.
Just check back soon, there was a bug initially that gave you an error message after purchase (but it went through OK for me despite this). I guess he's fixing that. It's just one guy and I assume he needs to sleep and go shopping like the rest of us.hit 'buy' but the checkout page is 'under maintenance'
It's really an amazing tool though. Very unique, not to say beautiful just to look at.

How about posting some "complex/evolving pad" kind of stuff? The samples on the page all seem to be more in the vein of edgy synth leads and pluck sounds. Is the synth specialised on these kind of sounds?DavenH wrote:Well now you bring it up again 'granular' isn't perfectly accurate, but I don't know a name for Cycle's synthesis technique.Neon Breath wrote: Can you post some granular synthesis and grain cloud sounds?
I'd try for myself if I could, but I'm on a mac.

Yep good call, I'm curious too to hear more into the pad/soundscape realm. I'm on mac but I'm interested by this new synth and I might get it once it's available on mac, if I like the sounds it does.monas wrote:How about posting some "complex/evolving pad" kind of stuff? Yeah sorry about the wait. I'm doing all I can with paypal but some things are out of my control on that front. I've elected to get a real merchant account in light of recent troubles but integration takes a while.
BTW, I will do transactions by hand in the downtime. Email or PM me if you like.
There's certainly no sound specialization I had in mind, quite the opposite. If there's a reference sound you have in mind, I'm quite confident I can recreate it
There's a pad demo on the demos page "ICycle" I'll do more soon.

I'm still getting a "This page is under maintenance" error screen when I press Buy.
What's the price anyway?

I get that too. Just how much is it?evilantal wrote:I'm still getting a "This page is under maintenance" error screen when I press Buy.

(edit: reading through the comments I assume the price is $149.00 with no intro price being made available).
Still, no real clue as to it being 32b or 64b?

Correct. The introductory offer is free updates for the lifetime of Cycle, valid until Nov 1. I may push that date back due to the checkout issue.BBFG# wrote: I get that too. Just how much is it?

Major updates will otherwise be approx 25-30% of full value. There are a lot of big improvements planned.
Anyway, email me if you want to buy a license; I'll do the transaction manually.
It's both.BBFG# wrote:Still, no real clue as to it being 32b or 64b?
