hi all
just purchased Reaktor 5 in the sale last week, and was wondering what ensembles people would recommend
i like a lot of 80's funk and soul, vocoder and talkbox stuff, as well as more modern acid funk/disco edit stuff.
i'm especially looking for 'playable' instruments as i don't use a lot of sequencing in my tracks
a few good drum synths would be great as well : )
thanks!

One of the biggest goodies was the *hidden* Legacy Library. Browse to the default Reaktor install path, where the factory content sits. There should be a *.zip with Reaktor 3/4 ensembles. Some of them could be what you're after, like the Uranus synth or the DSQ32 drum-synth.
http://boscomac.free.fr/ - free + donation. Great stuff. Get the Theremin and Retrobeat (and all the others too).

The User Library in the Native Instruments web site is a HUGE repository of great ensembles. Go there, and search around. You may start with the most voted, the ones with best overall score, or just search by type. There's an endless world to explore out there.

the Legacy library looks good - very sneaky of NI to hide that away - testing the Boscomac stuff tonight when i get home...
hi bluedad, if you don't mind me asking, what made amphitryon such a great ensemble? is there anything similar available today?
hi fmr - yes i saw the user library, but it is as you mention 'HUGE' - that's why i asked for recommendations : )
i'm hoping the giant pulsating overmind that is KVR can help me
keep 'em coming!

Yea, 3X is still around. Highest rating and download count in the user lib.

I kinda avoid the user library for the most part, since it should become my *GAS* resource...

That's fantastic. I've never seen or have forgotten many of those ensembles, especially the sequenced beat machines.bftucker wrote:A dated (2007) but still helpful overview for those new to reaktor:

Some of these aren't in the user library any more - anyone got RED 2 By John Nowak?~Pd~ wrote:That's fantastic. I've never seen or have forgotten many of those ensembles, especially the sequenced beat machines.bftucker wrote:A dated (2007) but still helpful overview for those new to reaktor:

Well, I would start by downloading ALL the All-Time Top 100, and the Hot 50 (I think these two categories don't overlap, because one is baed in user voting, and the other in the rating, which, I believe, is given bu NI staff itself.
That said, I will just mention two that I'm not sure are in these categories, but are still two of my all time favorites: an old ensemble (coming from the Generator era), called Super AD (created by Fritz Hildebrandt, and modified by Muzel).
Another is FM6 DIGITAL FM TONE SOURCE, created by Thomas Goebel, and which is one of the best FM synths ever built in Reaktor. Go to the user library, do search, and you will find both.
I'll have more for you, but if you go download the All-Time Top 100, you'll be busy for quite some time (in those All-time you will find both the Synth-In-a-Case mentioned by ~PD~ as well as the Modular X by Herwig Kraus - for this one there are always new modules coming in).
