Anyone Use Vanguard By reFx? (Same Guys Who Make Nexus)

I have to say this is the best soft synth I've ever used. Ever. Probably the easiest to use and best sounding one I've ever come across for synth sounds. I've wasted a lot of money on VST/RTASs over the years (Arturia, Spectrasonics, Lennar Digital, FXpansions, Disco DSP etc). I was trying to find something that I can use for everything and this is it. I use Kontakt for "Acoustic" stuff and Vanguard is now my go-to for anything "synth"

Every control is laid out nicely and is easily accessible. The synth can imitate just about any classic synth out there, can sound ridiculously phat in a mix, and there are literally tens of banks out there to add thousands of fresh new sounds.

This has been on the market for ages and I'm late with this "endorsement", but I'd even pick something like this up over their flagship Nexus Synth. I recently purchased the Kontakt Proteus Expansion and that has all of the Rompler stuff covered (stuff still sounds quite great and is a nice Roland JV/XP replacer).

Just wanted to share that. No I don't work for reFx, but just wanted to share my thrill and excitement with this toy. [/b]

If you can, buy the ProSounds "Genusis" bank, absolutely top-notch; and the BigTone banks are still some of the best work he's done IMO.

I just wish REFX would make an AAX version for Pro Tools, but I assume this is Markus from Tone2's baby and they don't seem very keen on supporting AAX.

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

I used it long time ago...had use of it but stopped using mostly because of bad filters and plastic sound.

true for the first versions, now the sound is much better (with the revisions over the years) then before imo.

I've always been interested in Vanguard - I like most of reFXs synths (even the old ones such as PlastiCZ!) but I've been waiting for Vanguard 2 to be released - which seems to be put on hold. I'm not sure what's keeping them - a couple of years ago, it felt a release was very very close - but lately I haven't heard a single news about it.

Anyone knows anything?

I was told it was cancelled. I assume REFX is now 100% about Nexus.

I used latest version as well, no change in sound. Same filters, same plastic sound. But it has it's charm I must say...

Love the colour scheme. It really divides it up nicely. Don't like the perspective on the 3D knobs though.

Yes your right, I thought so but I couldn't remember for sure.

So really Tone2 have come a long way with Saurus for example. Can't see the appeal of Vanguard anymore.

Indeed - alongside Diva, is ElectraX one of my most loved plugins. Damn how cool it is. Even when just using one layer.
