THis is my first OSC, I'm trying to get the hang of all submitted tracks to cast my votes - it's not easy!
I think I have to develop my own judging criteria and scoring system to help me make wise decisions - I wouldn't want to vote carelessly!

Hi -
Before I start using a new tool, let me ask ...
I make long "live" jams in Cantabile and AudioMulch and then chop them into 4 bar loops. I have been looking for wav player to spit back the loops randomly and found "SPDP 1.5" by Tekky
http://tektoog.zapto.org/online/web/SpDp%20specs.html
The above Tekky Sampler will allow me to play from two folders and it will choose randomly from my looped 4 bar files. Not sure what the onboard FX is (no details) sounds really good on drums, might send an email to the dev asking what it's FX architecture.
In order keep away from pitch shifting, I just need to trigger a C4 note continually or as needed into SPDP 1.5. [Not sure which piano roll tool I will use for that (phrazor or stepbeater do come to mind)].
The above technique leaves me clearly within the rules, imho but I wanted to ask before I begin?

Interesting player and would be cool if it matched to tempo.
Even though you are using samples for creative purposes which usually is a no-no, I don't see how playing random long loops from your project sound different than if the synths would be playing using a DAW region player for example. (arranger track)
As long as it's not pitched with the wrong trigger key like you say.
Does anyone have any objections to using S(mall) P(attern) D(ual) P(layer) by Tekky Synths?

Seems pretty much the same to me. Maybe similar to using Kirnu or whatever to sequence midi events.V'ger wrote:Even though you are using samples for creative purposes which usually is a no-no, I don't see how playing random long loops from your project sound different than if the synths would be playing using a DAW region player for example. Interesting approach IMHO.

I noticed something very peculiar. I'm doing "portfolio review" now. I grabbed the zip, and as a break I listened to my own piece to see how it fared after listening to the others. The mp3 plays as 48000KHz sample rate. What's up with this? Everything was mastered at 96000 and sent as a q8 ogg.

Yes all tracks at Archive.org will be MP3s.
To get the format uploaded by people at Soundcloud you must download them from there, but as it has no all-in-one-zip-file feature it will have to be individually.

I wasn't so upset about the format but that the sample rate has changed. I'm surprised that 96KHz isn't supported. Sorry about my ignorance. Is there any way of changing this so it doesn't go down to posterity like an 45rpm record played at 33?
