Life's too short to hold internet grudges.
codec_spurt wrote:Tell me. Where can I buy some of your proper presets? Whether for impOscar or Oddity?

Or maybe for something else.

Let the dog see the rabbit!

:o
Well I don't sell presets as I don't think I'm much of a sound designer. I have no master plan when I create I just make them and then when I've hit a limit I post them. So what you get for free is what you'd get if I charged.

Other patches (some free, some commercial):
impOscar:
http://www.rozzer.net/2007/01/08/gmedia-imposcar-bank/
http://www.lelotusbleu.fr/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_5
http://www.plughugger.com/gforce-imposc ... ssbox.html
http://www.kreativsounds.com/kreativ-so ... ar-sounds/ (patches no longer seem to be available when you click on link)
http://www.soundgasmdesign.com/presets/cicada (says not compatible with v2, not sure why as I load regular impOSCar patches into v2 all the time)

impOSCar2:
http://www.monomo-sounddesign.com/

Oddity:
http://rekkerd.org/patches/plug-in/oddity/

As I say I haven't really seen many Oddity patches, except in the GForce "Extras" section. If you log into the GForce website and then go to the "Extras" tab, you should see a bunch of free patches for Oddity and impOSCar - you have to be logged in as you only see free patches for instruments you have purchased. Make sure you get "Dave's" patches for Oddity. Don't download my patches from there as they are earlier versions of what's on AudioBombs now. I put them on AudioBombs so I would be able to update them (which I can't on the GForce site).

P.S. Just realised I already have your patches for impOSCar1, but I haven't got round to converting for impOSCar2 yet.

Aw sheesh, I've been playing with the demo all weekend and finally got it. Maybe my appreciation for synths has really gone up ever since I got into this electronic thing... this thing is wicked, and it's quite ancient, even by plugin-standards. Just goes to show that soft synths don't have to break the cpu bank in order to sound good.

I can't feel the power in Oddity while ImpOSCar & Imp2 is totally mindblowing.
Moreover Oddity has few presets - compared to the other "big name" synths -,
and the GUI is a bit small.
However, if I didn't have enough synths I would buy it...

I agree that impOSCar is mind blowing. Bass is one of its strengths. Amongst others.

So far, after buying Oddity, I can't help but feel that also, Bass is its strength - maybe its main strength. But that is slowly expanding to bleeps and blurts. You know, Acid, Techno type stuff.

But one thing I will say that Oddity is better at, is its instant tweakability. I do find impOSCar a bit of a monster. With Oddity, it is super fast to just tweak to perfection. I have to faff about for five minutes to do that with impOSCar and then I end up making a pad sound instead of a bass/bleep sound. Just my ignorance, I'm sure.

So this synth definitely has its place. I would say it is very reasonably priced for what you get. I bought the original impOSCar at the end of line sale, then waited for the end of line upgrade to impOSCar2, so I couldn't have got it any cheaper, even buying it in the marketplace, probably. But still, Oddity is cheaper than that again.

I guess this synth is not for everyone. And maybe if you have impOSCar and really know how to use it then you don't need it. But I wonder how many people really know how to use impOSCar? It is not hard but takes time. I'm pretty good with synths, but haven't taken that time with impOSCar. This is where Oddity comes in. It really does some of the most fattest ridiculous rounded or squelchy basses ever.

Saws/Pulses/Sines. Actually, I don't think that is totally correct, I just checked the manual and it seems to be Saws/Squares/Pulses, with Sines on LFOs. Whatever. PWM can be modulated by Sine, so...

There were some Drum and Bass Gurus on Youtube using it in one of their master classes, and it was all they used for bass, from the ground up, from sub bass to Reeses. That is the main reason I got it.

I'll try to dig it out.

I liked Imposcar2, but the GUI was a dealbreaker. I couldn't really edit because everything was
so tiny....

There are three sizes from which to choose... the largest one is HUGE (1600 px wide). Maybe you meant Imp #1?

Even with the gui in the third "Large" size? What the hell resolution is your monitor at if the large gui is tiny for you!!?

The Odyssey design is something all modern designers could stand to learn something from - it's a player's design and layout. It's great for drones, sample and hold, arpeggios, and live tweaking of all the above. And the Oddity is a great starter vst.

I didn't realize you could switch sizes...

What a surprise. Looks like the Odyssey has returned.

Yes, Korg is teaching a lesson to it's main competitors. Instead of flashlight little boxes and marketing mambo-jambo, they simply "drop a bomb" without pre-announcement :)

Well, I am pretty sure that one half of the people will complain that it doesn't sound like the original , the other half that that plugin emulation xyz sounds practically identical and why is it so expensive and the next half is just plain annoyed that their original suddenly drops in value (this half is mostly congruent with the first half).

Wow, that's really cool news. I can't imagine they're going to implement the proportional pitch control though. Please god no. Matter of fact, the original rotary pot bender was better. Way better. I started with that on my Roland SH-1000 (1977?).

Why not have both bend options + MIDI and CV for connectivity like the Arturia Brute?
