Thank you very much for the speedy reply; now I'm off to find an alternative to my hi-hat sound. This challenge has put my creativity to the test!Wow! That's a super interesting technique. I want to say that being a modulation effect, it is not allowed:
Rules: "Any type of modulation effect like chorus, phaser, flanger etc is not allowed."

sorta related: are sample-rate reducers/bitcrushers allowed? not for complete decimation of the sound, but just to add some subtle "harshness" to it, making the drums sound a little more digital or something like that

Adding to the ongoing questions-about-usage of-FX:
I would like to use the retrigger and gate effects from dBlue Glitch. No filtering and modulation would be used. I could create sounds like those with quite a bit of extra work without the effect. So for convenience I'd like to use Glitch. Do you all think it is ok to do it? Last say of course Bj or V'ger.
I remember that some time ago we had a similar discussion but can't find it on the forum.
For Illustration, first half without, second half with the effect (which is really, errhm, cute ).
Edit: A search on the forum yielded this post by Irion Da Ronin. In his submission to OSC 41 he used Glitch in the same manner as I would, ending up as winner. So I suppose everything is cool, right?

It will decide the new (tracks) voting system and other things.
As long as they don't transform the sound beyond recognition they are not against the rules, but people might also judge this when voting on your track so careful.nitedwella wrote:sorta related: are sample-rate reducers/bitcrushers allowed? not for complete decimation of the sound, but just to add some subtle "harshness" to it, making the drums sound a little more digital or something like that
Gate is of course Ok as that's basically a volume knob, but be careful about retrigger as that might produce sounds what the synth could not do regarding decay and attack etc.RuediRena wrote:Adding to the ongoing questions-about-usage of-FX:

Thanks for your advice V'ger. I promise to be careful with the retrigger part.V'ger wrote: Gate is of course Ok as that's basically a volume knob, but be careful about retrigger as that might produce sounds what the synth could not do regarding decay and attack etc.

I always use dropbox - it's very easy to use. Just paste the link of the file here at KVR and kaboom.xopher30 wrote:Sure - ummm...how does one upload a file on KVR?? hahaspidergod wrote:Would love to see the ableton file.xopher30 wrote:I'm willing to share my Ableton file for OSC 61 if anyone's interested. I just started using a new but similar thing called Copy https://copy.com?r=1gUUkQ which gives you 15gb at the start and an extra 5gb for every recommendation, If you have the need more than the basic 4gb with dropbox and don't want to pay.bjporter wrote:I always use dropbox - it's very easy to use. Thanks to everyone who had a listen to my track that I submitted but I had to remove my track from soundcloud as I detected some major tinny and transient issues with the soundcloud conversion - I think my step using wavosaur or SDPD might have introduced these unpleasing freqs as both tools are new to me. So I have some investigating to do ...

Here is my entry for the month...
a little bit of minimalism in the vein of Terry Riley or Phillip Glass. I wanted to enter something a little "mellower" than my previous attempts. Hope you like it!
https://soundcloud.com/cytosonic/cytosonic-conduit-obxd
Done in Reaper with just one(!) instance of OBXD. I also used...
ReaDelay (in case you can't tell )
ReaVerb (to "spring" everything up)
SonEQ (to contour the patch)
W1 Limiter (just in case)
This has a dynamic range of 13 according to the TT DR meter thing.
I apologize for the track length. The initial "cell" that I used was (in hindsight) a little too long. In order to develop it the way I wanted, this track just kept growing in length (I even cut it shorter than I would've liked). Hopefully, you'll find the time to listen to it through. I think there are some really nice sections to be heard and their impact is only heightened when you hear the development preceding them.
Enjoy!
