One page in and this thread is already cruising towards becoming pro/anti Omnisphere KVR pissing contest #127.

Next time he'll phone you before he buys anything.

He probably could have had a different girlfriend, a different car, wear a different tie today, etc.

Then his life would be....different.
You are so right. Did you visit the other thread?

Thanks for freshening it up.

Why? Is it important?

You're really misreading this, at least for some of us.

Post

Komplete is so damn overrated. It's like a bunch of zombie's came back and were programmed to say "Massive is all you need" and "OMG Komplete, forget everything else lolcopter."

Omnisphere will do what Komplete won't do, and that's give you QUALITY analog emulations. Yeah, Monark does the moog, but Moog isn't the only synth made before software.

/end rant against NI groupies who think the world revolves around Massive

To a Sound Designer is basically nothing. What i can hear in it i can basically recreate...(oh yes i know the burning Piano stuff)...i am not talking about it, we can probably recreate that too but my point is, anything that's in Omnisphere can be easily recreated. If you read on their own site what is Omnisphere you will know exactly what i am talking about...i can actually prove this.
+1
Although I think it's overpriced for what it is.

I surmise that the OP will either find that he bought a spiffy niche product he happens to really love, or the shine will wear off after a week or two and he'll start feeling it was a mixed blessing.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it AE. It's a nice product but it's only one monolithic thing. it is the essence of Eric Persing's musical soul. It's not at all like Komplete so comparing the two is a fishing expedition in search of a whale of a silly thread.

Ok. Can you clarify what is going on here? No time to wade through another thread.

I read a comment that I took to be sincere praise from a new owner of an expensive instrument at the beginning (but maybe I'm wrong and it was sarcastic), then I saw within the first half a dozen posts two or three people breeze in to start poo pooing. Is that not really what took place?

It gives context. I'm not pissing on anything, I think that my "analysis" is spot on.

As far as Omnisphere, different people value different product features and Omnisphere has a particular set of features that are, in my opinion, well suited to the OPs perspective and music choices. I was being sincere, for him, I think that it's a good choice. For me, and many others, those features do not impart the same value, even before you factor in price.

Post

And yes, Komplete is over fan rated too, but at least for the price it gives you a sample player, four synths and a drum battery that you can customize with third party samples and synths.

Omni is the clear winner in the overrated category.

FWIW, I wasn't singling you out. I reacted to two other posters.

LimboLoves wrote:I played one chord from omnisphere and my girlfriend took off all of her clothes and slapped me across the face really hard. I fell out of my chair, asking angrily, "What the f**k was that for?"

She responded, breathing heavily like a crazy person, "That synthesizer makes me so damn hot, we need to have sex right now!" and then she attacked me. I woke up the next day paralyzed from the waist down. I turned to the right, and my girlfriend was making out with my computer screen. Omnisphere was sitting right in the center of FL Studio. That bastard seduced my girl :(

I can't believe the quality of this synth!

Maybe we should rename this thread to.."The Omnisphere Pulp Fiction Porn Thread".
:D

Post

The OP started with a premise elsewhere that clearly lead to this with a few stops in other threads to announce it where the topic had nothing to do with VSTs.
Pretty transparent agenda?

Post

So I understand a little better what the overall context is here. Who overrates Omnisphere?

Bosendorfer pianos are unbelievably expensive but does anyone feel that they are "overrated" compared to, say, a good Yamaha? If so, then by whom?

I just think of them as very good, very expensive pianos. And I think of the best Yamahas as very good, much more affordable pianos.
