The upgrade price seems like a steal for Dune 2 IMO. I only wish that I owned Dune 1 already. $79 for what is essentially a brand new VERY nice synth is an incredible deal. Personally, I think it was extremely kind of Synapse to call this new synth Dune 2 as to give Dune 1 owners a discount.

Congrats of the release! Very interesting!

hmmm let's see.. i can buy dune2 for $169 alone and the bundle 1+2 for $198. that's dune1 for only $29 more..

The real interesting Q is: can you sell this v1 license to someone who will then be able to upgrade to v2...?

I have to say, it looks smashing! :tu:

Nice job!

just installed, and have been exploring it. it's happy in logic X! and so far, so good... logical GUI (plus i can hide the keyboard, something i ALWAYS need to do).

great sounds so far...reminds me of hardware (and that's good); rich, deep. am looking forward to REALLY torturing it this weekend, but looks like it will be a new member of my arsenal (and i'm pretty picky).

a worthwhile investment!

EDIT: as much as i hate keyboard images on plugins...LOVE the heatsink in the FX pane...
(which does indeed get hot... :D )

i think so. i did a little math: if i sell it for $60 both of us could save $30 on dune2 and the buyer would have dune1 too.

Dune 2 is trying hard to flatter me into thinking that I can make some decent sounds!! :D

Also did some tests with Cubase 7.5, Reaper, Studio One 2 and FL Studio on Windows 7 64 bit.

Definitely was suffering from spikes in Cubase, both heard and you could see them visually hit 100% CPU in the performance monitor. Average CPU useage showed pretty low. However, turning off multithreading seemed to fix the spikes in Cubase.

In the other programs, SO2 showed average CPU useage around 10% or less, whereas Reaper and FL Studio were minimal. This was in multithreaded mode.

My machine is an i7 with an NI KompleteAudio 6.

Congratz for the release ;)

Although...IMO the GUI looks really subpar...

How does Synapse Audio DUNE 2 compare with Reveal Sound Spire? They seem really similar for filling the role of an all-purpose virtual analogue synth that does wavetable and FM and RM synthesis.

Really interesting synth. I like the many options available to customise the unison oscillator sound - wide range of sounds to be made there. Sync is good sounding... Wavetables are a bit thin in number, wondering if there are more in the full version. Envelope is VERY snappy, I like that! CPU hit is tiny on my computer, I like that too :)

very different plugins. spire is modern, sharp...abrasive (when i want it to be). i love it.
dune is warmer, rounder. deeper perhaps. i now own both, and will def USE both.

A great sounding synth but +1 I don't know what Synapse guys were smoking when they decided to hire the gfx dude.

I don't know what the **** brings Spire to this thread. Meanwhile Synapse is a well know established German company with high quality stuff, those Russians from Belize (tax haven) offer a pathetic product (except for preset freaks) and of course after dealing with their "support" won't get a single cent from me.

I will be releasing an expansion pack of wavetables fairly soon for a reasonable price. Some of the factory ones are mine.
