The issue is somewhat of a blurred line but the gist is: make a track with the one synth, with whatever it's limitations are. So, if a synth didn't allow pitch bend, for example but you were to use a pitch shifter, it would be circumventing the limitations of the synth.BK1 wrote:As a noob, I find it difficult to understand why certain kinds of effects are legit and others are not. For example, the pitch-wheel automation of a keyboard or DAW is allowed, but a pitch-shifter plug-in is not. This seems like a rather fine distinction.
If you're referring to a gate effect, as previously mentioned I believe that should be fine if it's basically just automating volume.BK1 wrote:Would "stutter" effects be allowed, then, as long as they don't alter the pitch?
A Swierk pro by now; cheers for the submission... listening promptlykraftraum wrote:Hi all together,
Rotation 21 is final. This time keep me much work: i have done Patches for the Swierk in the past and i
wouldn't use them in this contest.
So i make new ones from scratch (only one from my first patch work) to see what else i can make with Swierk
Oh man, red in my face I learn much from you and other in this contest ... and the swierk is a great bread and butter synth with a great touch for bass sounds to layer (as you allways say)z.prime wrote:A Swierk pro by now; cheers for the submission... listening promptlykraftraum wrote:Hi all together,

I'm just getting involved with these contests, I've gone back & listened to several of the entries. To me, they provide a musical example of each synth's capabilities & versatility.z.prime wrote: I, personally, would love for allowing everything!
I believe these are commercial effects and would violate the rules. Nice track, though.BK1 wrote: ...

I believe the SuperCharger thing was fixed already. Annoying as it was free at one point, but no longer. At some point there WAS a free JB Ferox, too, but it's disappeared from the site, it seems.nineofkings wrote:I believe these are commercial effects and would violate the rules. I took Ferox off as well - turns out I didn't need it after all. I wasn't aware that it had disappeared from the web, though. It is listed here https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/re ... ed-plugins as one of the recommended plugins . . .BK1 wrote:

Good question... the rule is: "... 3rd party effects if they are freeware and easily available". I would vote a firm no on this if someone other than JB is distributing his plugins but he's taken them down. This is not 'freeware' but rather piracy of previously free plugins. On the other hand if he's given the okay to distribute them, maybe due to not wanting to pay for hosting, it may be fine. But I assume in this case, it is probably because he's decided to no longer give them away. So, despite being able to find a copy of the plugins somewhere, they're no longer freeware.animehaus wrote:But Ferox and other JB plugins can be downloaded for free on archive.org: http://web.archive.org/web/201306081839 ... lugins.zip
So, would it still be OK to use any of them, as they're actually still available for everyone to download?
