For free? not really... the biggest you'd prolly be able to get would be DrumMic'a. But that's no where near the size you're requesting.

Forget it I want a 813 piece vst kit like this one:

Lol. Na, but I guess if I don't find a free one, I may settle for buying addictive drums or bfd.

There aren't many freeware drum plugins at all, what does the Yellow Tool Independence have in it? Odo's Dr.Fusion had a lot, but 18 is really a lot.

Google "Free Acoustic Drum samples" and build your own kit ?

And with the samples you download you can load them into the Bigbadabom drum sample player VST. It has slots for loading up to 24 wav files : http://www.kvraudio.com/product/bigbada ... le_barrailTeksonik wrote:Google "Free Acoustic Drum samples" and build your own kit ?

Before I bought RM 2, RM IV and then RM V I used Linplug's free RMF which does have 18 sample slots....perfect for what the OP wants. Unless he comes back and says he's on a Mac.
I tried Loopazoid but remember it had some kind of crazy sample/patch handling scheme.......
The RMF is no longer available from Linplug but I believe it's available from Gersic or one of the other VST archives sites......

The SampleTank 3 Free one has a great bassdrum, but that's about it. I wasn't too impressed.
Edit: Okay, it's not that bad but it's nothing amazing. The hihat, bassdrum and ride sound pretty good. Every key has a different sound, so technically that would be like a 49 pc drumkit, right?

Crash cymbal samples played in quick succession always sound terrible to me :/ Just not real enough. I think what makes the difference is that the cymbal wobbles after it is struck, so it gets hit in a different place every hit.

Hi!
Like Teksonik said, you can easily find free acoustic drum set samples, and you can put them in any free sampler, like tx16wx ( http://www.tx16wx.com/ ).
Have a good day!

what I'm hoping to find is a progressive rock/metal style kit where there are 4+ toms, roto toms, etc. Think of something like Mike Portnoy or Neil Peart. Thanks for all the advice everyone.
