are there any free 18 piece or larger acoustic drum kit vst's?

I don't recall many drummers who made their own software, so free ones are usually from keyboardists. That's probably why the choices are limited.

Deep sampling deals with this somewhat; I wouldn't be ideological to that degree, but rather work with it, you do need differences by velocity. People tend to believe my drums. My Revolve Two contains examples of subtle cymbal rolls/swells. It's 'expensive' any way you look at it.arkmabat wrote:Crash cymbal samples played in quick succession always sound terrible to me :/ Just not real enough. I think what makes the difference is that the cymbal wobbles after it is struck, so it gets hit in a different place every hit.
However BFD3 has modeled cymbal washes now and it is a noticeable improvement, an effect that isn't quite going to be possible with just the samples.

Not free, but ...3ptguitarist wrote:what I'm hoping to find is a progressive rock/metal style kit where there are 4+ toms, roto toms, etc. Think of something like Mike Portnoy or Neil Peart. Thanks for all the advice everyone.
