I didn't say that I had any doubts they'd fix it, that is assuming it's on their end but over the years I've learned not all issues originate with an obvious source. I once had a similar issue a few years ago and found it wasn't the plugin installer but the extraction tool I was using on my end. Your post is the first mention I've seen with a similar problem so now it makes sense that it's probably not on my end and will get sorted out.Sampleconstruct wrote:Me too, I succeeded in downloading the HALion update, but the GA failed 3 times, so I gave up, what makes you think they would not fix it, I guess there are something like 10.000+ users or more waiting to dl it.dblock wrote:I hope you're right because I tried 3x over the course of today. This morning, this afternoon and this evening.Hopefully it'll sort itself out.Sampleconstruct wrote:There is obviously something wrong with their server, so just wait a few hours and try again, Germany is still sleeping.

Significant Updates for HALion 5 and Groove Agent 4

I see, I'm sure that the corruption is due to the dl speed/server issue, even when I downloaded the update-PDF for HALion the first time, it was corrupted and took about 10 seconds for a 200KB file.

I know trying to download updates on the first day of either a product update or new release is subject to some potential bumps when everybody is trying to squeeze through the internet at the same time to get it. For the most part I've not had too much trouble. This is just one of those rare times when I've encountered issues.Sampleconstruct wrote:I see, I'm sure that the corruption is due to the dl speed/server issue, even when I downloaded the update-PDF for HALion the first time, it was corrupted and took about 10 seconds for a 200KB file.

HALion 5 update downloaded relatively fast, clocking in at a 2 hour download. It installed fine. Just finished downloading the GrooveAgent 4 update, after 12 hours - and it also installed fine. Required three re-downloads on my Mac after the downloads were interrupted mid-way through. Sigh... hopefully Steinberg can sort out the issue on their server. Very painful process.

Hello all,
There was an overload on our servers, we have done an update and now it should be working more efficiently and shouldn’t take that long.
You should try once more today if you where having problems yesterday.
Thank you for your understanding!
Best regards,
GN

installer is pretty rubbish. and steinberg have provided no instructions as to workarounds. but here's what i've discovered.
tried running it, and got this error:
"Installation package Halion 5 64bit not found
Try to execute Windows install with a valid installation package
Halion5_64bit.msi"
similar error for the 32 bit installation.
tried putting the updater in the same folder as the original installer from the installer discs/iso.
that didn't work.
after a couple more tries, used the original installer (for 64 and 32 bit) and chose 'modify' and ran that without making any changes. ran the updater and it worked. but it installed the updates in steinbergs default locations, not the actual locations chosen during the original install (and the 'modify' thing didn't seem to allow me to make sure it was modifying the installation in the appropriate folders). So it took some searching and cutting and deleting and pasting to move the update to the appropriate folders.
15 minutes or so more time than it needed to take (to figure things out with trial & error). Chalk it up to a 1st world problem or a crappy updater, but eventually it works.

Hello,
Go to the control panel of the computer > Uninstall a program > right click on top of the application and selecting "repair" > then run the update again.
Best regards,
GN
In case anyone else experiences this, the solution will be the following:Daags wrote:installer is pretty rubbish. and steinberg have provided no instructions as to workarounds. but here's what i've discovered.

Anything you can offer about dealing with your ASIO drivers would be nice to know also.Guillermo Navarrete wrote:Hello,

See previous post:
BBFG# wrote: I got a quirk though. If I leave the Steinberg ASIO drivers in place they conflict with the MOTU PCI ASIO. So the simple fix is to remove them. But the update installation fails without them. So I have to remember to move them back to the default folder when updating and then put them back where I store them (away from where HAL can find them). All is working, but that is something of a quirk to put up with.

If that doesn't work, then try loading the original install CD prior to running the update. That worked for me.Guillermo Navarrete wrote:Hello,

Well, after a little test on Groove Agent 4's New Midi-out... It only confirms that the Auto Complexity is needed for Beat Agent Kits..
Having to open two instances (Acoustic Agent to Trigger a Beat Agent instance) is tedious... But those Beat Agent Kits sure comes alive with the Auto Complexity..
