all right, i know that all of these plugins are basically kick drum synths, but i was wondering if they differ from each other in any significant or fundamental way? or do they actually employ the same techniques just with a different user interface? i suppose this could well be true for kick and big kick as the controls even look very similar - but then again how does bazzism fit in the line? any thoughts on all three of them?

Post

its always about pitching sinewaves, some add sample load or distortion in addition, some do envelope shaping. Not entirely different on the technical side.

What's your preferred genre?

in my opinion for sure all three are different but it's true basically do the same thing between those three according to my personal taste for sure I prefer Bazzism , when it comes to commercial plugin, There are also Eks Pro and Kick R and according to my personal ranking list would be this:
1 Kick R I tried yesterday and added to my wish list
2 Eks pro
3 Bazzism

4 Big Kick
--Kick is out because there is no demo I never buy again stuff without demo because bad experiences

if you're trying to make a choice you should follow your taste :)

thx for your help, guys :) i actually already have kick and use it quite a lot, but was just wondering if there was anything the other plugins can do (better) or what their general advantages are.

i do a lot of trance at the moment and am sometimes struggling to get this "thunderous murder kick drum" (don't know how to properly describe it ;) ). that would be a very low, very big kick - preferably without that audible "zap" sine sweep that you often get from sa kick, and also with some very low and subtle vibration after the initial attack time... as i said, pretty hard to put that into words i guess :D

wasn't aware of metrum, looks cool - however it's pretty much a different price range, and (the kill off to me) requires a dongle

do you have any reference track , I'm more classic house oriented but if you post an example maybe we can help you,I do not speak English well I prefer to use the universal language of sounds :hihi:
However if you already have the basic tool you add some reverb eq saturation/clipper and above the compressor depending on what you want to achieve.

Try putting Logic's Phaser on the kick, without feedback and lfo's, 50/50 lfo mix, play with floor&ceiling, order, tick "warmth" :tu:

I think click is really processed here, if you have some multiband distortion or something, try that :tu:

You have Ultrabeat which is nice for trance kicks too :tu:
